Discussion for article #225534

I was just tortured reading that …

I think McCain should be Governor of Arizona. He would be reasonable there.

Finally McCain says something I can agree with him on, what Senator McCain and what Ralph Wood III went through was most definitely torture.

“this is in stark comparison to the gruesome, vicious suffering that he inflicted on his two victims, and the lifetime of suffering he has caused their family”

I’m getting tired of these deflections. We don’t do an eye for an eye…

"It’s a state issue," McCain said.

Funny, I always thought the Bill of Rights (with its pesky Eighth Amendment) was a federal issue.

Ah, what do I know?

Actually we do, and we are in great company of the countries that do: Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, China, North Korea, amongst the countries that executes its own people as punishment. This should disturb a great many people, that we call ourselves “civilized,” yet we share the same lust for vengeance as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, China, and North Korea.

“This is in stark comparison to the gruesome, vicious suffering that he inflicted on his two victims, and the lifetime of suffering he has caused their family,” Governor Brewer said.

This is the pettiest excuse imaginable for completely fucking up an execution. The killer had been convicted and sentenced to die – not to be tortured, you soulless hag.

As a citizen of the United States, I will not permit this country – or any state in it – to excuse the torture of a human being sentenced to die. If a dog were scheduled to be euthanized, would you choke it to death? Does a human being deserve less than that?

“…the bollocks-upped situation…”

When did McCain become an Eastender?

I predicted this in the comments section of the article on Brewer’s reaction to the botched execution.

OK Guv, your Senator just said you are responsible for torture. Still want to say there was no suffering…? Discuss, discuss

Say what you will, but this is utter damnation from someone who knows. Hopefully it will move us closer to ending this barbarism.

Thank you, Sen McCain.

While you may feel this is a state matter, it is your state. You should take it up with the Governor for no other reason than you are a citizen of the state of Arizona.

Gramps, the Cryptkeeper said he didn’t suffer. Now how can you have torture without suffering?

Or Catholicism?

Aww, to hell with it, Gramps said. You people get off my lawn!

Then he crashed a plane.

I actually think that bringing it up in an interview does more to advance the issue than his having a private conversation with the Governor.

Senator Bluto has long been known to be unable to refrain from each and every opportunity to upstage another pol and particularly to attempt to seize the moral higher ground from a fellow Republicant.

I rarely agree with a word that Senator McCain says, but this “The lethal injection needs to be an indeed lethal injection and not the bollocks-upped situation that just prevailed. That’s torture.” seems fair. He also gets extra marks for his use of bollocks-upped !

Hey, look, it’s that one thing John McCain is good for!

The two are not mutually exclusive. Nothing is preventing him from conducting this interview and having a private conversation with Brewer.

After all, McCain isn’t just any Arizona resident. He is a very influential Arizona politician…of her own party.

The difference between the two courses of action is…the public interview is done in front of reporter. McCain ALWAYS prefers that path.
