Discussion: Maureen McDonnell's Lawyers: Behavior Was 'Tacky' But Not Illegal

Discussion for article #227032

It’s hard to say which is worse. In the South, “tacky” has no parole.

But, but, but…if she’s sooo innocent and wants to defend her honor, why didn’t they put her on the stand to testify???

The entire McDonnell defense is a sham, a ruse, a deflection, and a desperate way to get the Governor off the hook. The collusion is the best piece of performance art I’ve read about in a long time…but its still all bullshit.

Tacky–agreed. Legal? Disagree. Not while Governor. Didn’t these people every hear the rule about Caesar’s Wife? Oh yeah, they don’t know much about history, or ethics.

Hard to remember when the wife of a public official was treated so badly in the plot of a bad play. Martha Mitchell of Watergate fame comes to mind.

One question:

We know who the prostitute is in this little drama, but exactly who is the pimp? Seems both Bob and the tobacco guy were getting a lot of stuff for not sleeping with Maureen.

They gave immunity to the wrong guy. Williams was definitely seeking favors but I do not think McDonnell delivered. I am a liberal woman and would never vote for the guy but I do not think the prosecution proved McDonnell delivered with favors for Williams. As to Maureen, sad case of anxiety and depression. Glad she finally sought relief with medication.

The Guv was definitely a chump as a husband. Not there for her when she needed him. As a husband and as a guv was bad for women.

In other words Mr McDonnell was receiving all the money .
