Funny you mention that. It made me remember the first time I tried “orange sunshine” in 1969. I never did acid before and didn’t know what to expect. I took about a third of a tab and the friend who gave it to me assured me he’d stay with me but right about the time I started peaking he left and went home I was expecting the hallucinations but when you are alone it’s easy to become paranoid and have a bad trip. Thank-god for my stereo and Electric Ladyland or it could have been much worse than it was. It got a little hairy but I made it through it.

Lets see, what would the effect of 16-fold over dose of alcohol do?
Lets assume she is 60 kg, and “one dose” is 6 oz of wine at 12% alcohol, her BAC would be 0.045.
Multiply that by 16 and we get 0.72. The level where “death” is the likely result: 0.50.
She’ll have to plenty of time to write it - it takes a week or more before the liver failure does you in.
Ah, but absolutely every one of Dowd’s columns is all about herself – her pet peeves and eternal grudges, a littany of things she dislikes, and all written in a pretentious, authorial show-offy style that would have gotten her flunked in any writing class.
Every column is all and only about Maureen, and yes, that means every one of her columns is stupid and unaware.
