Discussion: Mattis Signs Off On Request For Several Hundred More Troops At Border

Does it have a “Stand Your Ground” mandate, so they are protected from all the brown toddlers?

One wonders why Mattis is agreeing to this so-called mission.

Deployment of armed forces within the USA’s borders is illegal under “Posse comitatus”, except when authorized by congress. Only Nat. Guard are legally allowed for this deployment. How is Mattis getting around the law, not that any Trump employee observes the Rule of Law anymore?

300 troops. 2,000 mile boarder. One troop for every 6.67 miles, unless of course they rotate sleeping and breaks. Then it’s more like a pair for every 13.4 miles.

That’ll seal it up tight.

And, Mattis … better send some books and video games so your troops have something to do while they’re waiting for all those bad hombres to finish their hike up here.

I think Mattis is placating for the moment and will pull all of them back after the election.

Yep

Speaking of toddlers. I can see it now, US military guarding cages of tiny asylum seekers. It’s a nightmare but not hard to visualize.

Is anyone still laboring under the delusion that Mattis is “the adult in the room” and will protect the US and blah, blah, blah?

They fall like dominos, but I’m sure they’ll all paint themselves as quiet heroes when the tell-all books start coming out once this fucking disgrace of an administration is thrown out.

He should send JAG’s to help out with the processing of asylum applications - that would frost Orange Freeze’s ass. Better yet can Lindsey Graham still be called for duty - he has only been out of the Reserves for a few years?
