Discussion: Mattis: Afghan Security Fully Engaged In Offensive Military Ops For 1st Time

Trump: Mattis is a “Mad Dog!”

Oh oh, another Trump official that will soon be making like a baby and heading out!

Mattis also said during the hearing that the United States should remain in the nuclear deal negotiated during the Obama administration that constrains Iran’s ability to build a nuclear arsenal. Trump has called the deal the worst agreement ever negotiated by the United States.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., the chairman of the Armed Services Committee, lectured Mattis and Dunford at the opening of the hearing for failing to provide lawmakers with detailed information about Trump’s Afghanistan strategy.

“The truth is, Senators, that Trump has no strategy for anything, because he is an absolute idiot who has no idea what the fuck is going on in the world or how to do his job. So, detailed information about Trump’s so-called plans or “strategy” would be less than useless.”

That’s rather bolder language than I would have expected. There must be some fascinating backroom conversations going on between the more qualified of the cabinet secretaries right now.

The “more qualified of the cabinet secretaries”, a.k.a. “the designated adults”, increasingly seem to be running their show independent of – and without much apparent interest from – POTUS.

From a Constitutional perspective, this is a horrifying development, one that threatens the basic principles of how our nation is governed.

But, given that the alternative would be that an ignorant, impulsive idiot would actually be running things himself, it actually seems like the better option. And this is a clear measure of how dire things really are.

As someone smart once said, though not enough people listened, a man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we can trust with nuclear weapons.

Mattis also said during the hearing that the United States should remain in the nuclear deal negotiated during the Obama administration that constrains Iran’s ability to build a nuclear arsenal.

Sen. Angus King, I-Maine, asked if he thinks it’s in the national security interest of the United States to stay a part of the international accord.

Mattis says, "Yes, senator, I do.”

Something tells me that Mattis really wants out of the deal. Otherwise, he would have answered Kings’ question with “Yes, senator, I do, even though Obama strongly wanted out of the deal. Very strongly.”

Has Mattis been instructed to report this propaganda shit about how great and wonderful everything is in Afghanistan?
