Discussion: Matthew Whitaker: Mueller Probe 'Close To Being Completed'

Why the hell is he even saying this? To put pressure on Mueller to finish up, even if he’s not ready to do so? This seems highly inappropriate.

It’s over when it’s over. Even saying this may allow some remaining witnesses and their attorneys into making some calculations that may adversely affect the investigation.

I hope Nadler asks Whitaker if Trump put him up to this.

Maybe he wants it completed before his time is up. Whitaker’s only got a couple scaramuccis left before Barr takes over.

He said “I think” and “I hope.”

Oh please. I’m tired of hearing this. It brings back the days of Saturday Night Live when Generalissimo Francisco Franco was endlessly dying.

Still dead, BTW.

I’d like to hear what the Special Counsel’s office has to say about this. They’re usually (properly) tight-lipped, but this falls into the same camp as the Buzzfeed Cohen article - attributing comments to the SC. In any case, not very appropriate for him to say this.

Almost time to focus the lying, stonewalling and strong-arming on Congress eh Matt?

Oh and maybe throw some new "Bright Shiny " objects out to the masses.

Bingo. That’s the point.

There is absolutely no reason to believe anything this man says.

Didn’t they recently dig him and move the body to another location? (Family request I think).

So draw your conclusions from there.

Wasn’t it a “working coma”?

Well …….once again ……

I look forward to Mueller’s testimony before the Committee —

I don’t doubt that the Mueller investigation is close to complete and we’ll see his ultimate indictments soon. It will be at least a year until all the charges he has brought and will bring come to trial and are resolved. I very much doubt Whitaker’s statement that he’s been fully briefed. Whitaker can’t be trusted to maintain confidentiality and Mueller and Rosenstein aren’t going to tell him anything they aren’t content to share with all the targets of their investigation. They are both DOJ company men. They would never subvert the legitimate chain of command, but Whitaker’s appointment is grossly unconstitutional and improper. I expect they are keeping Whitaker in the dark and waiting for a legitimate AG to sign off on the big reveal.

Time will tell.

I’m thinking mid-day on, oh, Feb 5 would be a good time to announce the next slew of indictments…

While this is not a small deal, I’m not personally inclined to light my hair on fire.

The pull-out-all-the-stops version has a million and nine subpoenas flying from the House, a fired Mueller (and, hell, his whole team) testifying endlessly before Congress, and so on and so forth. The nuclear winter nightmare scenario was headed off last November, and I have been sleeping very much more soundly since then.
