Discussion: Matt Whitaker Offers Bogus Denial Of Existence Of Family Separation Policy

I’m not sure Mr Whitaker is being completely candid about this issue.

People have been known to get in trouble for lying to Congress, Mr. Whitaker. Recently, even.

Sessions says he hopes child separation policy will serve as a deterrent

Attorney General Jeff Sessions told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on Monday that he hopes the administration’s new policy that separates children from their parents will serve as a deterrent to other immigrants considering crossing the border illegally.

He blatantly lied to Congress - is anyone going to do anything about it?

Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA)

If you only see one questioner in this hearing, watch hers.

I do not think we can be sure that Whittaker is being candid about anything. I have followed virtually the entire session, and all I can see/hear is an evasive, condescending, and dishonest witness who should be prosecuted for contempt of Congress.

Patience. The chairman is basting him today, the roasting will start next week. The criminal prosecution on his scam business can then be piled on with the lying to Congress and he will flip. Rushing the process causes mistakes, we don’t want any.

If you wriggle and squirm in your seat enough, maybe Teach will give you bathroom pass and you can secretly look through your notes while you’re in the can. Pretty sure it worked for Vinnie Barbarino that one time.

I guess those kids just put themselves into cages.

I’m going with Whitaker was a combo of being evasive and lying. I did not see any candor, let alone “complete candor”

BTB, Jaypal (D-WA) was on fire in her question. Whitaker just looked like an uncaring jar-head, his facial gestures were completely inappropriate for what had happened.

Yup, and she is my rep. and her questions were amazing.

“I’m sorry, there was no family separation policy. There was a zero tolerance policy,” Whitaker said.

A swamp by another name (quagmire) is still a swamp. No matter what happy face legal label they try to put on their actions, it is still kidnapping and imprisonment of minors. Plus abuse of said minors while they are imprisoned.

…and another thing: “Zero tolerance” is just about the stupidest most destructive doctrine used to manage workplaces. It’s sickening to think some assorifice made millions pushing the theory that all problems were the fault of employees.

Seeing those ferocious women skewering that arrogant fuck was, well, gratifying as hell. The woman from PA, Mary Gay Scanlon, was fierce. What I wouldn’t give to see Trump in that seat, but it’s probably never going to happen.

All the dems were! Even the new congresspeople were calm and competent as heck! Very proud of the whole bunch.

Whittaker is also a bogus Attorney General. The Constitution requires the Senate to confirm the nomination of an Attorney General, and this bum didn’t have that confirmation. The man who did have the confirmation is Rod Rosenstein, who, by law was the Attorney General after Session resigned. Being a lawyer, the bum had to know this, but became a witting conspirator by accepting the bogus nomination. There is no office called “acting Attorney General”. The last Congress, led by Repubs, chose to allow a bogus nomination to stand.
