The whole herd of ´em - by which I mean the Bundys and their ilk - seem to be the most irresponsible group of ¨rugged individualists¨ I´ve ever heard of. Even frats clean up after themselves eventually.
I see this as an education issue. The cattle need to hear some tough talk to keep them from reproducing.
It could start with something like, “Don’t have a cow, man!”
The thought of feral cattle is disturbing but not as much as feral Bundy’s. At least the feral Bundy’s are mostly rounded up and in jail.

Quite frankly, I am a little puzzled that this piece is searching around to ask with GOVERNMENT agency should be responsible for the cattle…when it seems to me, the responsibility lies completely at Bundy’s feet. And that’s how it should be framed…another idiot cattle rancher with no grasp of how his greed is resulting in overgrazing…not only of his property, but federal lands…and is now resulting in unnecessarily cruelly starving hundreds of heads of cattle.
PETA doesn’t give a s**t. The cattle aren’t in human hands so PETA doesn’t care. It’s only animals associating with people that they go bonkers over. If dependent animals are turned loose and die, PETA figures that’s fine. HSUS isn’t much if any better, but they do “rescues” IF they can make enough money off the publicity and any sponsors to pay for it and swell their bursting coffers so’s to pay their execs big money.
They’d probably get Mad Cliven disease.

Irresponsible and/or abusive animal owners just make me sick. These cattle didn’t choose to be Bundys but they’re suffering the consequences.
Tack on any and all expenses incurred by the state and federal governments to handle this situation and make the BundyKlan pay.
Starving life forms do not undergo population explosions. I suspect there is some showmanship in this story.
Not that I am in favor of feral cattle on public lands.

These animals have roamed public lands for 20 years, the herd growing from the original 150 to current population of 1,000 or more. That they could reproduce successfully is no surprise given that they are a so-called drought-adapted breed. The combination of over-grazing and recent years of drought is the problem.
Well, that and the fact that they were “managed” by Cowliphate Yeehawdists.

I remember the homeostasis illustrations from 9th grade biology, with the rabbit and wolf populations seesawing back and forth. First the wolves eat too many rabbits, then the rabbits start eating the overpopulation of wolves, something like that—it’s been a while since then. Beautiful in its way, how the balance maintains itself.
Unless you actually have to deal with the drifts of dead animals.
