Sigh. This is why I wish MA Dems would just shut the fuck up sometimes. They have this amazing habit of saying something that just makes them look stupid. Anyhoo, yes, yes it does protect lying. It depends on the context and to whom, etc.

doesn’t play by the same rules as everyone else.

Trump loves this and will until Tillerson and Putin decide he’s unnecessary baggage…
4 years then, President Tillerson.

So if confirmed by the GOP Senate as Secretary of State, Tillerson could be found guilty of fraud while serving. He is a perfect fit for the Trump Administration of Deplorables.

Well, at least we know that the Trump administration will be historic. They’re already setting records for the number of scandals before taking office. Just think what they’ll do once in office!

I deal with Healey’s office all the time, and I’m not a big fan of hers. But she’s right on this one, and I’m with her all the way.

You’re right, of course. But they certainly aren’t protected by the First from lying to investigators. Which is why they’re going all out to stop the investigations in their tracks.

As I’ve been saying, Trump is going to make the Harding and Grant administrations (also Republican, by the way) look honest.

The AG was probably being inartful in her statement if we accept that she actually understands the 1st Amendment. A fuller, better way of saying it is that “The First Amendment doesn’t protect YOU FROM THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR right to lie and doesn’t protect companies from THE CONSEQUENCES — WHETHER LEGAL OR SOCIAL— OF lying EITHER.”

EXXON is claiming that they are being intimidated into silence by a government. They are not. This is just their lawyers acting both aggrieved and mean at the same time.

Look guys, we’re moving into full on fascism here, where corporations rule. Everything. I have been wondering how they were going to force coal and oil consumption for us.

B-b-but highly (cough) respected Condi Ri$e and Darth Cheney love him…

That’s right, Mr. Tillerson! Sean Spicer says it’s OK as long as you’re transparent about it. He doesn’t want you to be “sneaky about it” or “shady about it.”

Corporations ate people too…

AG Healey is a fine public servant with a pretty liberal record. (Duh, Massachusetts). Especially with guns, she’s been aggressive on that end.

She will replace Either Charlie Baker for Governor in 2018 or Markey in the senate when he retires. (Suppose both are possible).

Really? As a masshole myself i feel her reputation is solid.

With the exception of the gun nuts i know.

In that regard she is good with me.

Is it wrong to hope he goes the way of Harding?

Funny how many are centering their thoughts on Tillerson? Just based on the fact that he dwelt with various governments in the past on complex oil business agreements indicates that experience could translate into a natural for SOS?

Meanwhile, where is the outrage over Trump’s nominee for the EPA, Scott Pruitt? He is the singular disastrous choice of the bunch, so far.

If you’re not already, the time to boycott Exxon for at least the next four years (regardless of Tillerson’s appointment) is now. Drops in a bucket can still have an impact or grow into one.

You mean being poisoned by his wife, because he’s unfaithful?

(I know that isn’t what really happened to Harding, but it was a popular theory for a while.)
