Discussion: Mark Halperin's Given A Lot Of Thought To This Hypothetical Gore 2016 Bid (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #224639

Halperin needs to do this to stay in the news. Dim mild-mannered Republican journalists don’t make it on charisma or insight.

You are being far too generous in calling him a journalist.

The take away from this little exchange is…Halperin has done zero reporting on this theory of his. That is why he continued to misdirect every time he was asked if this was based on some reporting he has. Because its not. Its so much easier to just make stuff up than it is to actually research something.

The fact that such a pathetically self-serving hack could maintain his position of inside-the-Beltway influence is one of the signs of the living death of American journalism. It totters on, zombie-like, shedding bits of rotting flesh with each shambling step.

The notion that a guy who has been completely absent from American electoral politics for fourteen years by his own choice has any chance of entering the race at the age of 66 is a ridiculous turd that Halperin pulled out of his own ass.

He’s also dead serious about keeping the spotlight on himself. Without attention, Mark Halperin will start to physically fade away, like Marty McFly at the end of Back to the Future.

I hear that Joe Lieberman isn’t really busy these days, so how about a Gore/Lieberman ticket? Just think what that would bring to the table! They’d save a fortune on bumper stickers, alone.

Dems are playing with house money in 2016. Almost any Dem could win it. Even O’Malley.

I read the first four words, but I won’t tell you what I thought. Then I saw word #5.

Oh well.

Two years is a lifetime in politics. Republicans were similarly convinced in 2006 that there was no way that they would lose the White House in 2008.

Hell, they were trumpeting the reich-like Permanent Republican Majority in '06.

The thing is, the Republicans don’t have a darkhorse at this point except for Jeb Bush, which is what they will need to even have a shot at the White House.

Speaking of dead serious…So here’s a highly paid fellow who frequents NYC television studios as an on-air guest and at some point in the past he decides to appear younger by coloring his gray hair.
Does he book a pricey session with a Manhattan hair colorist for professional work or does the penny-pinching pundit run to the corner grocery for an $8.95 self-applied box of Dark and Lovely?

Amazing how being an idiot who says stupid things can be a paying job - as long as you keep delivering consistently.

That’s just good prediction work.

Let’s say something bizarre happens and Gore runs. Halperin is a genius!

Let’s say reality actually happens and Gore doesn’t run. Nobody remembers this ridiculous crap that TPM felt the need to do a long-form retweet of.

Jeb isn’t really what I would call a darkhorse. The Bushes have been maneuvering in the background to put him in the White House for a very long time. W. just got in the way and gummed up the works, as he is so prone to do.

There might still be a darkhorse out there for the republicans. A lot of people are going to start testing the waters with the legal troubles looming over Christie and Walker’s heads. And the safe advice is going to be to wait till after the 2014 elections and check out the landscape then. Early 2015 is when a darkhorse will start to emerge, if one is going to.

Um, yeah. I have a better chance of being the nominee than Al does. He blew it in 2000… I’d rather LaRouche took the nomination.

Nice to see the ridiculous demonization of Al Gore by alleged progressives hasn’t ended.

If you seriously would rather have Lyndon Fucking Nutcase Larouche as the Democratic nominee for the Presidency of the United States, you’re an asshole.

really. it’s especially ironic given that Al Gore has not expressed any serious interest in political office since at least 2007, and then as a goof,
and if he did run he would be constantly pissed on by the likes of Halperin.
