Discussion: Marilinda Garcia Healthcare

Discussion for article #227733

Catastrophic coverage means that should she become ill, her costs will be catastrophic, leading her to file bankruptcy.

That’ll come soon too in her case. One cold and her legislative pay won’t cover a co-pay. In NH from the chart on their website (followed the part time legis link) they pay their legislators the worst, by far, in the country. $200 for their two year term. You’d have to question why anyone would run for legislature in that state, and it explains that Tea Party racist ranting nut job in Coos County…

She’s stuck between in a rock and a hard place a la Bobby Jindal. In her world Obamacare is an evil takeover by liberals and since she’s a God fearing Republican her healthcare has nothing to do with this oppressive regime’s attempt at a hostile takeover. Except of course that it does. She wants be be against it and a happy customer of it at the same time. If it weren’t for these liberals in the media she’s thinking to herself.

Part of the whole GOP’s stance on allowing exceptions to party stances when it actually affects you (see Cheney on gay issues, Palin on a huge tax hike of oil in Alaska, McCain on being against torture, etc etc).

Yep, she’s a liar. That makes her a perfect Republican candidate.

I think it’s pretty obvious she got her healthcare policy through an Obamacare exchange. It is equally obvious she wasn’t prepared for the question or she would have had cover story already prepared. So the only thing left is the dodging and weaving. Good luck ith that because it’s not going away.

I know what insurance I have, doesn’t everyone here? I carry that card like my life depends on it.

  • no doubt she could have pulled the card out & shown it - but of course that would have exposed her as a fraud!

Wouldn’t be surprised if she has some condition that made her “uninsureable” and can only get coverage because of Obamacare. I would think Pubbies who are in that spot really don’t want to talk about Obamacare being their only road to healthcare insurance.

She plays the harp and disregards the law…

If she had ACA and disliked it, at least she’d have standing to say what to improve about it. Too bad the law erred on the side of being too conservative in every particular.

I believe that my cable company should have their monopoly destroyed, and I vehemently oppose the way they operate. But if I subscribe to their terrible service, does that make me a hypocrite for criticizing them? In the same way, I might hate Obamacare, but still think it’s the best thing on a reprehensibly bad menu of options. Garcia is clearly arguing for the inadequacy of the menu, but I don’t think that forces her to abstain from ordering the least bad thing on it.

She fell into a stupid political trap. It would have been much more effective if her line was “I hate Obamacare, and I know what I’m talking about! I’m on it!”

It seems to me that Marilinda Garcia can’t get her story straight for the simple fact that she is dumber than a sack of doorknobs.

She’s an unemployed harp teacher who lives with her parents and can’t even afford proper insurance. In other words, she’s everything conservatives rail against.

Good thing she’s not black or they’d have to say something about it. Not that they reject all black people, just the poor ones, because they distract from the message.

The real question is will any of this matter to the apathetic and brain-dead swath of the electorate which seems to be far too large a slice of the voting population?

“Freedom Fighter” plan? Really?

She could have made that argument, but she tried to duck the question by saying she is speaking for her constituents. Blaming her position on others makes it hard for her to then turn around and say that she’s on it and hates the options. She’d be afraid of the follow-up question about what changes she would make to improve it.

My bet it she doesn’t have insurance at all, and is simply willing to mooch off the rest of us should she turn up in an ERA, etc. and stick the rest of us with the bill. That is the core essence of the entire GOP/tea party modus operandi.
