Discussion: Marco Rubio Announces Bill To Impose Travel Ban Over Ebola

Discussion for article #229057

Is the Senate/House even in session?

“Unproductive” is what experts call an Ebola travel ban. Unfortunately, unproductive is Marco Rubio’s (and the TGOP’s) middle name.

Nope, Congress is not in session. I am sure the lame-duck Senate / House will take this up in due course following next month’s election.

Jerkweed Rubio at it again.

“Ineffective or counterproductive”

Much like the Republican party.

There are no direct flights to stop, if he wants to block all planes from Europe that won’t happen and if he is banning all citizens from these countries it will require a lot of work and funding to pay someone for the extra clearing and holding these people who can’t move forward.

Republicans know that pandering to the ignorant always pays off like a slot machine.

What was it the Mayor of Tampa said? …
…Oh Yeah…
“Marco Rubio is an Idiot”

His constituents don’t know that there are no flights. I exchanged comments with someone over this at CNN the other day:

Him: This is President Obama’s fault!
CharlieE: How so?
Him: He refuses to block flights from Africa to the U.S.
CharlieE: There aren’t any.
Him: Whatever, clown.

There you have it. That’s pretty typical of what I’m encountering everywhere.

Because you know what’s not scary enough? Responsible legislation like funding a program to make sure all hospitals have the proper triage procedures, isolation equipment, contagion resistant suits and the training and protocols to go with them. Also not scary enough is listening to medical and science professionals. At the top of the not-scary-enough list, however, is failing to light one’s hair on fire and then run around telling everyone to be scared, they’re going to die, that the science is all a lie and that failure to ban travel will mean a massive invasion of ebolazombies taking over the planet.

Has this guy ever had an original thought in his head?

Supposedly they’re back on November 14. With the election over, there won’t be any motivation to pass these symbolic bills to score political points I imagine.

I’d rather we be overrun with an epidemic of ebola than the current epidemic of xenophobic bigotry and anti-science confirmation bias.

Let’s start with just asking whether he’s ever had a thought in his head and, if we can say he has, THEN move on to determining whether it came in a certain flavor.
