Discussion: Many AL Christian Conservatives Are Backing Moore, Despite Accusations

For them, as long as he talks the talk, he doesn’t need to walk the walk. Sad.

The Devil’s greatest trick was not to convince people that he did not exist, but that he was a Christian Conservative.

This all could have been shortened to: He’s anti choice and hates gays. That’s it. They don’t care if you diddle 14 year olds as long as you’re anti choice and hate gays.

Of course they are. Remember their lord and savior is George Wallace.

They like that he seemed to place THEIR values above all else. There’s no other way of thinking this guy faithfully served the public when he was kicked off the bench TWICE for placing his values above the law.

Whatever else, these people seem to value what they think their faith supports above all else. They can forgive the preying on children (this IS Alabama and the age of consent was 16 for waaaaaaaaay too long), so long as he has a healthy distain fr everyone and anything else. They really really really should read their Bibles a little more carefully.

They’re already fundraising for a monument…

I think they read them so closely they lose sight of what they’re seeing. Like how one of those Bob Ross trees in a painting looks like a weird splotch of paint from six inches away. They can’t back away anymore, lest they see what they’ve rendered.

Bottom line: This is religious indoctrination working exactly as intended in many of these right wing Evangelical churches.

True Believers abandon independent thinking and evidence-based beliefs in favor of groupthink and dogmatism, and thus are immune to (or at least strongly immunized against) logic, facts, and real world events.

Perfect for grifting them out of their money, and perfect for using them as political pawns.

It really reminds me of the phrase “a mind is a terrible thing to waste.”

Genesis doesn’t state the age difference between Judah and Tamar. But if it was ok to knock up his daughter in law by the roadside, because she wore a veil and let him mistake her for a prostitute, than surely they can forgive old Roy Moore for cruising teenagers at the mall.

Who said it was okay?

“He is against a redefinition of marriage and believes firmly that it is only between a man and a woman. And he is against all threats against the traditional family,” Allison said.
I think Moore allows some wiggle room with the pastors interpretation. Between a man and a teen is more like it.

We might be talking about different sides of the same coin…These folks see everyone not like them as a threat. They HATE people not like them, which clearly isn’t in the Bible. They have very comfortable with 11am on Sunday being the most segregated hour in America, and get very uncomfortable worshipping with people who don’t look like them, but still have the same faith.

Yes, they have their noses in the Bible, but still don’t comprehend the scriptures. A friend of mine took me a service, and I listened to the preacher preach the opposite of what was written. I was wondering if there was something wrong with me, because I didn’t comprehend that three verses the same way. I walked away feeling like this isn’t the place I need to worship or a faith I can support.

I grew up in a church that became evangelical, and as I grew into my teens, I wondered how my pastor could preach against Gays (not against Homosexuality, but Gays) and praise the choir director week after week. The choir director was VERY Gay and didn’t hide it. We attended church less and less, and by the time I was a Junior in high school, we were no longer going, even on Mother’s Day, Father’s Day or Easter. One thing I realize, they were willing to tolerate stuff from people that claimed the same faith. You would think it would be the exact opposite, but it wasn’t.

To me, that’s the tragedy in the whole thing with Roy Moore. He breaks the law, gets kicked off the bench twice, and his people support him even more. They don’t see a law-breaker, but a man who is a true believer. That’s the scary part that gives Moore some protection. Whether they believe the women or not, they have completely ignored the comments made by the former co-worker, who stated in no uncertain terms that Moore dated teens!!

“Alabama’s Christian conservatives see Roy Moore as their champion.”

One of the problems is that the media allows these people, unchallenged, to call themselves “Christian conservatives” or “Evangelical Christians.” They are nothing of the kind.

Alabama’s Christian conservatives see Roy Moore as their champion. He
has battled federal judges and castigated liberals, big government, gun
control, Muslims, homosexuality and anything else that doesn’t fit the
evangelical mold.

Implying that a 30-something cruising for teens to feel up, or worse, does fit.

Moore was just kicking the tires at the car lot, I guess.

Tecmage. They are of the Trump tripe. As he so famously stated he could shoot someone on Fifth Ave. and he wouldn’t lose a core supporter. Same tribalism in the land of Wallace for Moore, the next in line…fondling a 14 year old is not a deal breaker to them.

Okay, now let us break down and define who these Alabama christian conservatives that are backing up the child molester, Roy Moore.
They refer to themselves as “white evangelicals” and thus everything and everyone they believe in is of the white race and they believe they are the purest at heart. When in fact, they hide behind specific scriptures in the Bible to justify their hate towards anyone that is of the none white race. To go even further, I read an article from a young lady who said she was “home schooled” and there was this fairytale about this couple that sounded so cute and innocent. They had a courtship and fell in love and got married. The realization of the story was that the man was in his late twenties and the young female was a 15 year old girl. The author of the story said the “Independent Fundamentalist Baptist” aka IFB typically teach young teenage girls to get married early so they can aid a man/future husband to build his career while she stays at home and provide all of his needs. As I read this article, I was astonished about how her story sounded a lot like the cult that Warren Jeffs operated on his so called compound.

Child molestation should NEVER become a religious practice in any faith of any kind! NEVER! THUS, OUR GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT PERMIT THESE ILLEGAL PRACTICES TO FREELY OCCUR WTIHIN ANYONE’S HOUSE OF WORSHIP!

WHY SHOULD ANY TAXPAYER BE FORCED TO SUBSIDIZE THESE WICKED FAKE FAITH INSTITUTIONS, THAT FOLLOW THESE WICKED DOCTRINES?
