Discussion: Manhunt Underway For Suspect In Paris Attacks

Discussion for article #242869

Seven or eight attackers at six sites in a coordinated attack happening about the same time? The math does not add up since there were reportedly multiple attackers at each site. 20 attackers, at least, sounds more like it. No?

From NYT

The Paris terrorist attacks were carried out with the help of three French brothers living in Belgium, the authorities said on Sunday, as they asked the public’s help in finding one of them.

Officials had initially described eight attackers, but on Saturday night said that only seven attackers had died — six by blowing themselves up and one in a shootout with police.

Thanks. I guess the police do not want panic to ensue by suggesting more than perhaps 1-3 attackers are still in Paris.

Police detained his father, a brother and other relatives Saturday night, and they were still being questioned Sunday, the judicial official said.

Wow, just like Bush had the bin Laden’s detained after
9-11.

Oh right. Never mind.

Or after Oklahoma City. After McVeigh was apprehended the authorities went to his sisters and parents home in upstate NY.

A French survivor of the rampage at Paris’ Bataclan concert hall said he was struck by how young the attackers were.

Too bad extremists don’t use their religion to transcend their situation, but instead wallow in their perceived slights. Is this a millenial thing, when you fill your microagression scorecard, you get to be a terrorist?

"And goddammit! If BHO doesn’t personally hunt this guy down and give him two-taps to the head?
Terrorism will never be stopped!

Does being totally unable to find a job despite having decent credentials qualify as a 'microagression?"

There is a reason Gandhi was viewed as a saint.

You know the scary part of that observation is–yours and the concert-goer’s? We all have been there. I can remember in my mid-teens and early twenties having a lot of anger, even a little rage. Thank goodness for my upbringing, my parents, my siblings, neighbors and some extended family who all helped shape me (and to a much lesser degree, media of the 70s). I doubt I personally would have been drawn to this type of expression of any of my anger, but one can never be too certain because all it takes is the right bad influence, “friend” or a negative experience with a respected elder, etc. What an awful, very dangerous outlet. Add all of that with today’s social media, the internet and seconds-fast dissemination of information, etc., along with how volatile and tribal human nature already is and we as a race (collectively) have some serious issues. Not even to speak of the earth we’re trashing in the process.

Two at the stadium. Two or three at the theater and the other shootings were drive by type as I understand it. And if you look at a map of where they happened it looks like that would work with three teams of 2-3 people each. My question is this: the members had to have discussed this and coordinated the timing. Someone else must have heard what was being planned and said nothing? Really?

You go, French Police!!! May you swiftly find these bastards and put them away for the rest of their natural life. Preferably on a desert island that makes growing you own food difficult, but you must grow and harvest it if you are going to survive.

I’m impressed w/ how quickly they’ve ID’d the shooters and details of their lives. The way they dealt w/ the immediate scenes was good, too from what I can tell.
