Discussion: Mandy Patinkin: Ted Cruz Is Missing The Ethos Of 'The Princess Bride'

Did he missed his calling, doing cheesy movie impersonations?

I hope he doesn’t mind this guy using his lines… well, almost.

No. Bet the farm he would.
Cruz didn’t even cop the takeaway from Green Eggs & Ham!.

“President Cruz”

Think about what that means…

There are so many similarities…

In Sunday in the Park with George Mandy played a famous pointillist.

Cruz is famous for his pointlessness.

As pointed out above, he suits ROUS better than POTUS.

(shudder!!!) I can’t even imagine how violated Mandy must feel having Ted’s face photoshopped over his…kinda like e-crabs or something.

I learn something new and revolting about Raphael every day.

Appropriation or False Light might be suitable claims to bring against Cruz, who really should know since he’s a lawyer himself.

I have to give Cruz a little credit, remembering all the lines from Princess Bride is probably healthier than my remembering a lot of the lines from Full Metal Jacket.

I dunno Bill.
From what I’ve gathered you’ve lived that reality–
where Cruz’ recitations of fantasy seem to be twisted 180° from their intended meanings.

So he can remember a few lines from a fun movie. They’re not even done well - Senator Cruz the adolescent.
I can recite to him a favorite Terminator line, and it’s not “I’ll be back”.

I always wondered why Cruz had six fingers on his right hand

Not surprising. The underlying moral of “Green Eggs and Ham” also escaped Teddy C.

Senator Cruz, the Constitution, I do not think it means what you think it means.

The more clever sociopaths will mimic popular culture in order to pass as normal human beings. The more extreme the pathology, the less successful they’ll be.

Wonder if “Sneeches” would have had an effect ?..?.. never mind —

I doubt he got the point of the Lorax either. In fact, I have a feeling that Cruz closely identifies with the Zax. (The video is never as good as the story, but for those who haven’t read the story, this will do just fine.)

I wonder how much the actors were paid to sit there and laugh .

He just needs to show up in costume and challenge Cruz.

“Hello! I am Mandy Patinkin. You are killing my character. Prepare to debate!”
