Agreed. I think that’s probably why it’s taking him so long to flip. There aren’t any good options because even if he goes into witness protection he has to consider whether doing so will put other family members at risk. Whether he flips or not, even if he pleads guilty and is sentenced to 100 years, as long as he’s alive he presents a threat to Putin. His only real option, IMO, is to make a deal and get protection for as many family members as possible.
Why is a “spokesman” speaking on behalf of Manafort on these recent charges? Where is his lawyer and why didn’t he defend his white privileged client against these alleged charges?
Yes, yes: “My client is looking forward to his day in court, and proving his innocence with regard to all these baseless charges, blah, blah, blah.”
I think it was (doctored) Excel files, but in either case, why would he need to do that? All it takes is choosing “Save As” from the file menu and choosing “.pdf” from the list of options. Maybe he thought it was one of those “secretary” functions that was beneath him. Or maybe he thought it was a way to make his underling complicit so he could count on his silence. Hey, Gates, have a clue yet?
More like a traffic cop finding drugs in the glove box, leading to the body in the trunk, to the cash in the house, to the criminal enterprise, to the king pin.
Why has this loyal conservative not been invited to speak at CPAC? Don’t conservatives love the smell of thugs, poisoners, kidnappers, pedophiles, Russian bots and traitors?
All of this worries me. He can’t get a new identity. They can’t vanish him and his family. And he is guilty as all hell.
This is one of those desperate situations where a suicide could easily happen. Or be faked. I know he’s on house arrest. They’d better keep a close eye on him. He really has nothing to live for.
I am just hoping Mueller already has all the information he needs to bring down the Trump Crime Family.
…as long as he’s alive he presents a threat to Putin.
When you put it that way, I’m surprised that Manafort’s still alive.
Do either think that they’ll get paid?
Gates is pleading guilty as early as this afternoon per ABC and NYT.
Manafort is S.O.L. Actually, Gates pleading guilty is the best thing for him. He’ll now have to cooperate or rot in jail for the rest of his life.
I love how they ‘think’ he’ll be acquitted NOT because he isn’t a scumsucking bottomfeeder that has broken numerous laws but because this isn’t about ‘Russia and Trump’. Wow.
Yup.
Just got the NYT alert
Ha! I out sleuthed the Daily Beast! Actually, all I did was read the court docket last night.
It’s good to be confident, Paul. It helps you manage in life. Me, I’m confident you’ll die in jail and equally confident that’s about the best outcome you’re looking at right now. See, Bobby Three Sticks is trying to send all you brain-deads a message you may not want to hear: He knows everything. And you’re hoping for a pardon from a guy who may very well not be in office when you’re convicted. There’s such a thing as overconfidence, Paul. But then you run with people who tend to be that way.
There are two types of criminals that American juries DETEST: child molesters and tax cheats.
Oh I’m SURE he would, but he’s on house arrest. Maybe they can video conference him in. Or pay him a visit and all squeeze into his palatial living room.
Some people say that Donald Trump fits that description.
From that story.
If Mr. Manafort continues to fight the charges in a trial, testimony from Mr. Gates could give Mr. Mueller’s team a first-person account of the criminal conduct that is claimed in the indictments — a potential blow to Mr. Manafort’s defense strategy.
We all know about Al Capone. He was finally sent to prison on tax evasion charges, not on the murders and other crimes he’d orchestrated and committed.
Suicide Watch.
Now.
Keep this f’er alive.
