Discussion: Manafort Proposes Putting Up Real Estate Properties For Bail

Real Estate means nothing to a vulture like Manafort.

How about he puts up a wife, child, or grandchild?

Never mind, heā€™s still a vultureā€¦

Put up cash, pal, like every other defendant that the court thinks might endanger the community or might flee from prosecution. You want to use your properties? Go to a bank and use them as collateral for a cash loan.

Or, put on a jumpsuit.

Meaningless action without a thorough title search and a determination that there are no other liens or encumbrances on the property.

Real Estate - like that home that was being remodeled for millions over a number of years - that only after the early am raid, was a crew hired to start doing some work (and had to be sent word - via reporters - that the owner was in custody last Monday)?

Given Manafortā€™s ties to Russia, and the way Putin has of disposing people that embarrass him , the judge shouldnā€™t be considering anything short of an isolation cell in close protective custody.

Arenā€™t these properties subject to civil or criminal forfeiture; or at least tax liens?
Is the value placed on them gross or net?

Manafort will be shitting his pants whenever he sees someone with an umbrella!

Bail means cash.

Manafort should go to a bail bond place across from the court house and borrow cash against his real estate collateral just like a lot of Americans without liquidity.

I am happy to provide some addresses for him from from the top of my Google Search for freeā€¦: The Bond Apartments (Open till 5PM), Marcus Bail Bond, Dominion Bail Bonds (Open 24 hours), Poindexter & Associates Inc, FitzPatrick & Associates (Closed today), Bonding Yee, Affordable Bail Bonds LLC (Open 24 hours) and my favorite with a name fit for the Yellow Pages: A AA AA All Hyattsville Bail Bonds (Open 24 hours).

Else he should spend time in jail.

The proposal, to which Special Counsel Robert Mueller has not yet agreed, would let Manafort travel to Florida, New York, Virginia and Washington, D.C., but not internationally.

Hmmā€¦who else has properties in those locations?? Perhaps a face to face to discuss pardons?

Just curious ā€“ would it be possible for [Manafort] to request asylum at an embassy? One that doesnā€™t have reciprocity with the US?

(Iā€™m guessing that then the only way out of the country would be to be disguised and leave hidden in the laundry truck, or somethingā€¦)

ā€œCounsel for Mr. Manafort and the Office of Special Counsel have been discussing a potential agreed-upon bail package recommendation but, as noted above, securing the additional documentation for the values of Mr. Manafortā€™s assets and liabilities over the weekend has proven problematic,ā€ his attorneys said.

That tends to happen when you rely heavily on laundered money, eh, Mr. Manafort? Tough titty, I say. Donā€™t have the cash? ā€“ Well, Iā€™m going to go out on a limb here and bet your home is quite cushy, so I wonā€™t shed a tear for you.

Two words:

Flight. Risk.

Canā€™t get a bail bond? Surely he had friends that trust him

Perhaps he can pay in-kind with antique rugs? Baggy suits? A month worth of free landscaping for the judgeā€™s house in the Hamptons?

Creative liquidity is his thing.

I guess thatā€™s one way to launder ill-gotten booty.

Itā€™d be nice if Parliament uses that as an excuse to worm its way out of Brexit. What they seem unwilling to do is simply state that leaving the EU was a stupid, stupid idea pushed through with bald-faced lies scribbled on the side of a bus.
