I would have prefered Indictment Friday, but Flipping Monday works, too…
I was sort of surprised he is right out the Gates today.
Pun aside, I am surprised at how fast this is going.
“One Schadenfreude chimi to go, please.”
Oh good. Though not the main point of this trial, Gates was presumably at the pre-meeting running up to the actual conspiracy meeting at Trump Tower. So hard to keep all the collusion straight…but it probably means a weekend chock full of crazy-ass tweets from the crazy-ass buffoon in charge.
Is this the right time to get popcorn ready? I know my afternoon is pretty shot as it is now.
"Defense attorney Kevin Downing made the revelation toward the end of his cross examination of one of Manafort’s accountants. As he tried to question the accountant, Cindy Laporta, about what he said was Gates embezzling from Manafort, a prosecutor interrupted, saying he should not be allowed to ask about facts that were not yet in evidence. Downing thundered back that prosecutors knew such facts might soon be discussed, adding, “Mr. Gates is next up.”
He thundered?
Also, is there a facts-soon-to-be-in-evidence exception?
I imagine he had to thunder to be heard over the ostrich jacket that’s in every juror’s thought balloon.
Ouch!
At what point does the defense begin to play in the sympathies of the jury? “Thundering” does not seem to be the right tact.
At first I thought -I don’t know -maybe this is the kind of stuff that flies in Eastern Europe. But I hear even in the Ukraine, they’re saying “really, Paul? We’re gangsters, not rodeo clowns .”
Much coffee was served.
I think the defense should impeach Gates’s credibility by pointing out that he worked for Donald J. Trump.
So, Gates embezzled from Manafort who got his money through illegal means. That should go a long way to clearing Manafort of all charges. //s//
I get that their trying to discredit Gates before he even takes the stand. I’m thinking that they fear what he could say. Biggly
I’m thinking you’re absolutely right.
This testimony should get really interesting.
That testimony may take an hour or two.
I imagine he’s pretty gray by now. Kudos on the burn Ana.
Today is Monday!!! Dammit!!!
Not to mention the cross-ex.
