Discussion: Man Who Says He Was Orlando Shooter’s Lover Calls Attack Act Of ‘Revenge’

He seems nice.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Were they trying to disguise this guy too? You know, to ‘protect his identity’?

IIRC, one of the people trapped in the bathroom said he was asked if he were black and told that the shooter had nothing against blacks. This struck me as odd at the time but makes sense given the context above.

Wow,
If I were that guy, I would protect my identity by keeping my mouth shut… I suppose this is information worth knowing, but wow. “Confused” is the wrong word, in this context.

Great, the FBI has to set up a department to track closeted gay Muslims with an anti-Latin bias and prone to domestic hetero violence, raised by a crazy father and suffering from foiled aspirations to be a policeman. There must only be like, oh, a million of THOSE guys running around. How did they miss him?

Now the right will mention gay in regards to the shooting.

:Lover really TPM. A sexual encounter does not make one’s lover

Oh yeah?! Well you try telling that crazy chick from the bar last week to move the hell out of my basement. Geez…Miss Kitty is really pissed about all the Pinot Grigio that’s gone missing.

They didn’t miss him. He was investigated for quite some time and there are several possibilities: he gulled them, they did not give suffucuent weightto his emotional explosiveness as shown in his relationship to his first wife and/or at the time they looked at him he was Jihad curious but not yet radicalized.

Not at all. Grindr does it for them. All the FBI has to do is cruise Grindr.

If the picture that’s coming out is accurate – of an explosively violent guy with deep psychosexual conflicts that may or may not have had any connection to his religion – then the FBI may have accurately determined that he wasn’t a risk for committing an act of relgiously-inspired terrorism. Do they even have a section for dealing with threats of anti-gay violence, or mass shootings by crazy people?

No dishing??? Do I really have to wait for the FBI euphemism for the shooter’s role in his closeted sex play?

Considering the number of anti-gay crimes and mass shootings in the U.S., obviously not.

Not sure, but if you water your lawn in Phoenix these days it takes about 20 minutes for 5 different government agencies to know about it.

I am inclined to believe he was a self radicalized self loathing gay Muslim with daddy issues and things might have gone better if he didn’t have the AR.

This.

We may never be able to parse out what drove him to do this, but it’s perfectly clear that, had he been unable to get his hands on any serious firepower, the death toll would have been a small fraction of what it was.

…But of course we can’t do anything at all because the Founding Fathers clearly envisioned a country where every (white, landowning, male) person walked around all day with an M-60 at the ready to rain bullets down on the British…

They must have envisioned that, or they would have thought to add key caveats like, “well-regulated militia” or somesuch lawyer-speak…

There are over 300 million firearms in circulation, for sale and/or in possession in this nation. If firearm sales were halted today those 300 miliion would remain available for determined nutjobs to procure. A sizable percentage of that 300 million are assault style weapons capable of massacre level mayhem. The horse is out of the barn. On some level increased regulation and control of guns is laudable, but it will hardly suffice in cutting down on future Orlando-style events.

I think you just profiled Sheriff Joe Arpaio, had the Maricopa County voters not been wacko enough to elect him.
