Good people on both sides indeed. I know he deserves representation, but his lawyer is has already said a bunch of reprehensible things.

Defense attorney John Hill agreed there’s no doubt Fields drove the car that careened into the crowd, but Hill said it happened after hours of violent clashes between white nationalists and counterprotesters, including street brawling, people throwing bottles and the use of tear gas and chemical sprays.

Thanks, John. That’s an excellent summation of the violence precipitated by the tiki torch-wielding, Fred Perry Twin Tipped Polo-shirted, Khaki Dockers-clad Cockholster Cadet Corps.

Now, about the behavior of the peaceful protesters….

The only thing I want to hear about this POS is that he will never again experience life outside a prison.

Everyone is entitled to a defense, no matter how laughably weak and misleading it might be.

[Martin] said he pushed his fiance out of the way, then he was hit by Fields’ car, suffering a broken leg and other injuries.

No apologies for his angry thuggery? He probably did some serious damage to the fender.

Three months before the rally, Fields twice posted on Instagram an image of a crowd being struck by a car, Antony said, adding that the people in the crowd were described as “protesters.”

If spending money is protected speech, can’t we all agree that Fields use of his car was protected speech?

“Hill told jurors they will hear testimony from a police officer who pulled Fields over after the crash. “You’ll hear James tell the officer that he feared for his safety, that was scared to death,” he said. Fields also expressed remorse about the people who were hurt, Hill said.”

Right. I’m so scared of peaceful protesters I just had to drive my car into them, as if that would make me safe…

If you were that afraid you’d be driving the other direction, not dropping friends off at their cars, then driving yours into people with whom you disagree.

How stupid does this attorney think we all are?

Buh-bye, champ. Enjoy whatever they do to you for your skinhead prison gang initiation, because you’re certainly going to need the protection on the inside.

Excellent snark. The Instagram posts are greater evidence of a planned attack.

Once again, the alley was single-lane, 1-way, stopping for the elevated Main street pedestrian mall (where Fields could have turned around?), but he continues at speed into bodies at the end of alley.

There are no words to describe this animal.

O whoa! Yeah that’s going to be really hard to get around with a measly little I felt so scared!

…he feared for his safety, that was scared to death…

Wow. He was driving a 3500 pound car. IIRC, reports at the time said that he sped up to hit the crowd of people. This claim is complete BS.

Old English geolu gives us a number of interesting words. Among them, “yellow” and “gall.”

Yep.

As his right I want him to be well represented by a good lawyer. That way when he is found guilty of first degree murder, and a count of attempted first degree murder for each of the injured victims, there will be less chance of him filing a successful appeal. And since he ran down victim after victim after victim, I want his sentences to run one after another starting with life without parole.
