The pushback begins…
Now if we could just get the Industry behind the conventions to stop being misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic and racist or at least stop whining about the inclusion of LGBT, women and people of color in the media that creates these conventions.
I think that the GOP Govs have messed with the wrong crowd. They think the Tea People are passionate? Wait until they see some pissed off fantasy geeks.
If it turns out it’s the Bronies that get this shit done and become heros of pelvic equality in America, I’ll wear a purple mane for a year.
I think this bill is pretty much a goner for this year at least. Some of the less rabid republicans joined with democrats to add an amendment that effectively would gut it by adding exemptions for all protected classes (which was what the bill was meant to get around)…so its been held off another year
The only God these religious nuts worship is the one on the dollar bill. Take away as many of their Gods as you can. Do not support them with your money. It only allows them to use it buying politicians to pass laws to harm you with.
Free market will get you every time.
Yeah. I usually think the idea you can fix every freaking thing by letting the market do whatever is pathetically naive–but it looks like it’s going to do the trick for LGBT rights.
Americans like sex. Even when it’s not their favorite flavor. I don’t know how the Rs got the opposite impression.
Yes. Ed Kilgore has a good write-up on what happened, here:
Well let’s caulk off another state that I’ll do business within and will take 100% of my business elsewhere. Example: gas up before I cross boarder if there is no other way to get to my destination so that they don’t even get any gas taxes while I use the public highways. Reap what you sow.
This would also allow Baptists to discriminate against any other religion that they do not agree with whether Christian or not. Food fight.
I won’t spend money in any state that has passed these repulsive and unconstitutional laws.
Economic sanctions hurt…just ask Russia.
I guess Mike Pence can forget about running for President any time soon.
Talk is cheap. Let’s see what they actually do!
Any time I can read a snarky take down of “Erick the Red” Erickson its an added bonus…He seems to be having a severe hissy fit on being out maneuvered
Erickson is a bete noir (or rouge?) of Kilgore’s.
…and let me tell you, no one does “hissy fit” like Erick…I’ve seen it live…its not pretty.
100 likes from me. This is exactly the reason I come to TPM - informative commentary combined with insightful, therapeutic humor. I am a bit old to pull off purple hair, but I would join you.
The CEO of the major science fiction and fantasy convention Dragon Con warned Georgia lawmakers of a massive industry boycott if the state passes a anti-gay, religious freedom bill.
That is sooooo not what the letter says. The letter just says that they will only partner with businesses who swear not to discriminate. No boycott mentioned whatsoever.
