Deeply held religious beliefs always seem to result in unspeakable treatment of those who don’t share those beliefs. Funny about that.

Sadly, unless the country has fossil fuels to exploit or protect for the sake of world markets, expect little help from this country other than “strongly worded condemnations”.

If Myanmar had a Moslem majority and a Buddhist minority, does anybody think the Moslems would give the Buddhists any better treatment?

I bet the situation would get more airtime in the US media though.

Actually, Burma does have significant oil and the Chinese are building a major pipeline through the country. Both the President and prominent Republican leaders, like Mitch McConnell have visited the country and have shown significant interests in what is going on. If I am not mistaken the largest CIA outpost in Asia is now in Rangoon. This is one case where I think the media is underreporting a story.
