This guy was a child, raised in a fucked up repressive religious household. Instead of reporting this to the proper authorities and social services to get Josh the help he needed, they tried to hide everything and sent him to some bullshit religion based counseling.
Obviously I don’t support what he did, and I feel bad for his sisters, but he was a child. When children do things like this we don’t condemn them forever, we try to get them help. Instead his parents were too worried about their own reputations.

That is NEVER true of any of the abuse survivors I’ve known. That’s often what family’s and offenders want. But never victims. How can they ever “leave this thing in the past.” That defy’s the laws of physics. Leaving one’s abuse in the past is a psychological impossibility because the abuse survivor has to live with it every day for the rest of their lives!

Let’s take Huckabee at his word, that he only defended the elder Duggars. They covered up multiple and ongoing crimes and tacitly allowed their son to sexually abuse their daughters. They are accessories to his crimes and in a just society all three would be in prison right now. Is that really who you want to be pallin’ around with, Mike? Accessories to sexual assault?

I’ve stood in an amusement park and tossed popcorn in the carp pond. They eagerly gobble it up, fighting among themselves to occupy the area I’m throwing it. It doesn’t make me feel particularly clever. They’re stupid fish and I’m giving them what they want.
