Make it maximum and consecutive, please, Your Honor.
No light sentences!
I want justice.
No time , for turning state’s evidence against a gang of traitors----exactly those words
The big mystery of the first sentence: how could Ellis sentence Manafort as if he were a first-time offender leading an “otherwise blameless” life when Ellis was aware that Manafort had pleaded guilty to the serious crimes before Judge Berman Jackson?
Awwww, the wheelchair is a nice touch, Paulie.
He’s wearing a suit, rather than the green Alexandria jail uniform that he’s worn in other proceedings.
Know your audience. The prison greens obviously struck a chord for Judge Ellis. Judge Jackson, not so much.
Life without parole is to lenient.
She said what she’s doing today cannot be “a review or a revision of a sentence that was imposed by another court.”
IOW: So don’t try to pull that shit on appeal…
Did Manafort’s lawyer, Kevin Downing, issue an opening statement that said “one thing we want to make clear, Your Honor, is that there was no collusion with any Russian Government Official” ?
Very strange indeed.
The blameless life statement is a mind bender. Ellis was an eccentric to begin with.
This LIVE BLOG would be better if it was a LIVE BLOG.

This LIVE BLOG would be better if it was a LIVE BLOG.

Getting credit for admitting responsibility??? Say what? Credit for appearing in a suit instead of prison garb?
What does this mean, please: “Jackson upholds the probation office’s leadership role enhancement.”
Wheel chair is a nice touch. Does anybody get to ask him if he dressed himself?
IANAL, but think it is this (don’t know where the probabtion office came from):
Jackson says there are two legal disputes re: the presentence report — whether Manafort should get credit for acceptance of responsibility, and whether there should be an enhancement for having a leadership role in the offense
