It seems to me that Democrats are in a great bargaining position.
Republican Senators are between the proverbial rock and hard place between Donnie two scoops and Democrats.
Of course our problem is that the GOP is not necessarily smart enough to choose the Democratic offering and get done with Donnie two scoops belligerence and whining.
Yes that’s right Susan, they are only a good idea when you can get the other side to take the blame for them.
Susan Collins (R-ME): “Those who thought that shutdowns were a good idea have been disabused by that.”
Well that’s a load off my mind! Make sure ya’ll remember that when it’s time to smack down the next one.
“we’ll have 70 votes in 48 hours” was what I think I saw last night on one of the talking head shows; reported to have been said the day before the mammoth cave.
I don’t think it will be much different here in a week or two.
Hey senate goopers, how about spending the next two weeks looking for a spine. And you can ask for help with the search if you feel it necessary, I have some thoughts on the matter (hint: you can’t get a good one with rubles).
Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
“Forward, the Light Brigade!
Charge for the guns!” he said.
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
Uh-oh, look out, Collins may be working herself up to being concerned. The answer is quite simple, if Trump is stupid enough to shut it down again, then pass a veto proof CR.
Any bargain that is struck should contain considerable GOP compromise… none of this bullshit where the GOP gets to slide because the Dems need to compromise.
Remember Rudyard Kipling:
And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
But we’ve proved it again and again,
That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
You never get rid of the Dane. Poetry Lover’s Page
Remember the debt ceiling. If he’s successful with this extortion, we’ll be paying for it again and again.
Pass legislation that eliminates the possibility of future shutdowns, by whomever for whatever reason.
‘Little Or No Appetite’
Oh, so you’re telling us that the Republicans have grown tired of the taste of children’s flesh that they usually feast upon?
Or better yet just get over this CR nonsense and pass what remains of the budget for the remainder of the fiscal year. You can get another bite at the apple in September.
“Those who thought that shutdowns were a good idea have been disabused by that.”
Actually it’s disabused of that, unless she is somehow trying to suggest that they still haven’t given up on the idea. Why do so many people use prepositions incorrectly? Are they doing it on accident?
Ya Go ahead and squirm you enablers
You haven’t done shit for two years to stop him or his policies
You had to wait for Nancy to do your dirty work
You bought it you own it
Collins is done in 2020. That phony “moderate” label slapped on her by the bothsiderist media has been ripped off her clown makeup-covered face for good.
The only way Oh-So-Concerned Collins is going to salvage her Senate career is if she jumps on a table at the front of the Senate chamber, screams at the top of her lungs how Trump and Pence should be arrested and immediately sent to Guantanamo, and then beats the living shit out of Mitch McConnell with a bag of oranges while raging at him for allowing the dumbass shutdown to occur. Oh, and also if every Democrat and Independent voter in Maine drops dead.
The GOP should never be disabused. They should only be absolutely abused.
Do NOT count on party girl Suzie Collins from Maine to be brave or to be a Senator of substance…Suzie never voted NO once during the Cheney-Bush years and she will never do the right thing Vs McConnell/Chao - Trump/Pence…NEVER. Suzie has never been a so called moderate…she’s nothing but hot air.
And, if the Always Concerned Collins does decide to run, the Crowdpac funding for her opponent is now up to $3,765,159
Kinda like the complaint about having so many TV channels and not being able to find a thing to watch.
53 GOP Senators and nothing going on.
