Discussion: Lindsey Graham: FBI Sought To Interview 10 People In Kavanaugh Follow-up Probe

“I’ve learned nothing I didn’t already know.”

I already knew he had a drinking problem, was a belligerent drunk, assaulted women, and repeatedly lied to the committee. I also knew he is a political operative as well as a judge and see no reason why he should not be on the Supreme Court where he can do a lot to help the party.

The media is full of reports of people who tried to testify but were ignored by the FBI…which begs the question with 10 people di the FBI actually talk to? Of course, we all know the answer: only the people who would support Kavanaugh, or at least not damage him, plus one accuser whose story wasn’t followed up.

It’s a sham all around, and that should be obvious.

As for the contents of the FBI report, Graham said, “I’ve learned nothing I didn’t already know.”

Graham continued, “I knew he was a lying, alcoholic rapist before this, and I still know it now. I REALLY DON’T CARE.”

“I learned nothing I didn’t already know”

“I know he’s going to vote for tax cuts, corporations, ridiculous religious claims, people opposed to women’s health, and the rest of the GOP agenda.”

no new information because anyone who might have been in a position to offer that information was ignored

The Supreme Court will be just as compromised as the Office of the President and the good will of the GOP.

Easy to say no new information if you avoid those who have relevant information.
Reminds me of ads I’ve seen criticizing a candidate for a judicial seat for never imposing a death sentence when he’s presided only over civil cases. Just because they say it’s a fully exonerating report doesn’t mean that it’s a complete and fully exonerating reports
.

The psychology of honor killing at work in the Whitehouse and Republican Party.

Graham: “The fact is that these allegations have not been corroborated." That happens when people who can corroborate are not interviewed. I hope whatever compromising info there is on Graham is leaked.

I guess that means no new evidence exonerating him either.

Similar to the R’s strategy for dealing with hypocrisy (shout “I’m rubber and you’re glue”) their strategy for dealing with this investigation was the tried and true “let’s not and say we did.”

Josh pointed out in a recent article that there was good reason to think the fight over the Kavanaugh nomination was energizing Republican voters and re-partisanizing some wavering Republican voters.

Perhaps the confirmation of Kavanaugh will deflate the motivation for wavering Republicans to vote in the mid terms. They won’t have to worry about needing 51 Republicans to confirm a replacement for Kennedy.

Now that the half assed smokescreen has glossed over the horse and pony show of a hearing, we can finally have our most complicated laws decided by at best, a one-man reason to raise the drinking age.

All the focus and energy spent on CFM as though they are people of principle. Nothing but Very Serious Weathervanes (VSWs). Poor Jeff Flake may indeed be self-entangled. But think about that: if Flake is, or was, struggling with how to vote, that tells you that he is a broken man, for this is not a difficult thing to figure out.

I’m not sure how much CFM were individually struggling trying to figure out the correct thing to do, and how much they have been holding out to ensure their asses are sufficiently covered. In the former case, you have broken people who can’t figure out what is the obviously right thing to do; in the later, you have pure shysters.

So there you have it: Collins, Flake, and Murkowski are broken people or assholes – or a mix of the two. This of course is not new. But the point is, their behavior in this drawn-out process implies that they are broken/assholes, not that they are thoughtful people with integrity and spine.

It will be splendid if, on Friday or Saturday, these players vote to confirm Kavanaugh.

“The fact is that these allegations have not been corroborated. None of
the allegations have been corroborated by the seventh FBI
investigation,” Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said on the
Senate floor after the briefing. “Not in the new FBI investigation. Not
anywhere.”

Not in the new FBI investigation? Maybe true, given the limitations designed to not find information.

Not anywhere? That’s as big a whopper as “Biden Rule.” There’s plenty of corroboration from people who knew BK, Ford and other assault victims back then.
