Limbaughās relevance is āmade upāā¦
Please explain why this āentertainerā is worthy of notice or commentary.
When one walks in this idiots shoes, making shit up as he goes along and having come to believe that his own made up shit is the real deal anything that is real is beyond their feeble comprehension.
I donāt know what is more patheticā¦Rush, his followers or TPM for degrading this site with his image.
Limbaugh used to be the guy making up the conservative talking points. Now heās just following the script written by others.
Heāll never retire, but heās no longer the leader of the GOP.
Whenever I feel the urge to get mad at Rush I just remind myself that it must be miserable to have so much money and not be able to get laid.
Uh, oh. Rush seems to be concerned about protest and freivances ātearing apart the fabric of our country.āā In the old days we called this rabble-rousing. Sure happy that Limbo himself never stoops to that level.
Well, gee, that all made perfect sense.
Rush is nothing but a Draft Dodging Drug Abusing Junkie who fried his brain (thatās assuming he had one) yars ago
Mehāguy who talks talked again. My panties remain untwisted, my head unexploded. His ads never came back after Sandra Fluke two years ago, his ratings in blue-state markets, once high, are now pathetic, and demographics are killing him. Heās like a beached whale not just in physical appearance and general attractiveness, but also in being present and visible without having much a future to look forward to.
This is amazing. The person who has made a fortune by being decisive and ripping the fabric of our democracy at any opportunity is now pretending to be concerned about our social fabric.
What a SOB.

Because he tells millions and millions of peopleāthe people who actually got off their asses and voted last month, as it happensāwhat to think. Because he, more than any other, is responsible for the validation and legitimation of their darkest thoughts. More than any one man, Limbaugh is responsible for the re-emergence of open racism as a non-shameful, guilt-free belief system on the right. He has made a career of spewing anti-social racist and misogynistic hate porn under a the pretext of āhumorā ("hey, Iām just joking folks! The PC Nazis wonāt even let us tell a joke anymore! What does that tell you!) that communicates to his listeners feel like thereās nothing shameful about being a racist, sexist swineābecause look how successful heās gotten doing it and capitalism doesnāt reward immorality, amirite?
Heās no longer an opinion-maker. He now does what Palin doesāhe comes in on the tail of stuff thatās already happening and tries to make it his by making even more inflammatory comments than have already been made, but heās still an important validator. Heās the one who tells them itās okay to think what they already think and to take where they are just a step further down the road.
But, yeah, heād be totally irrelevant if not for the fact that the people who listen to him vote in every election and far too many of those who believe he can just be ignored away only turn out for presidential elections. (Present company excepted, I have no doubt. If I were still in the poli sci biz, Iād be willing to bet that commenting on an internet discussion about politics is a near perfect predictor that one will vote in every election.)

A lesion in his own mindā¦
The bottom line here: Nothing Limbaugh says matters any more. Heās last weekās fish.
Limbaugh also claimed that police did not actually put Garner in a chokehold . . .
Okay, now this just got my attention. Not so long ago, just two or three years ago, a common contention on the right was that anything that wasnāt recorded by someone didnāt really happen because everything gets recorded.
Now, however, the voluntary submission to the principles of Ingsoc over in the rightwing alternate universe bullshit bubble has become so complete that an Inner Party orator can just state that a thing that was, in fact, recorded, didnāt actually happen, serenely confident that, for the millions in the bubble, his assertion will become a truism within hours or days regardless of what they think their lying eyes are telling them.
Itās related to another thing I noticed. A few years ago, youād occasionally see objective reality come in and punch a big hole in the bullshit bubbleāthe time the House Republicans invited the teleprompter reading dim negro president to debate them on TV at their retreat and he absolutely kicked their asses and the killing of Bin Laden for exampleāand youād usually see 24 to 36 hours of existential crisis inside the anthill as the entire fabric of their universe threatened to unravel. It would usually take them that long to patch the hole with another series of hastily woven lies that bought the boys at Fox and Hate Radio and the websites time to drop the whole event down the memory hole.
Now, however, one of those events comes along and it doesnāt cause them as much as a minute of angst. Now, they just smoothly tell the drones that the thing that happened didnāt happen and, within minutes there is much rejoicing that Big Brother has raised the chocolate ration from thirty to twenty grams.
The Garner killing was the closest weāve seen to one of those periodic intrusions of reality into the rightwing bullshit bubble in a long time, a thing that cause a few people on the right to go āwhoa, too much!ā But theyāve reached the point now where Limbaugh can just say āhey, never happened,ā and be confident his listeners will believe him.
Is it just me,or has TPM become the place to go to hear the latest bullshit from people you wouldnāt listen to otherwise? What service is that providing? Why not offer a responsible point of view and leave the idiot racist rwnjās to themselves?
Ah, so there is justice thenā¦?
Nah - he just helps to validate what these people already think. If not him, they would just listen to another hate-filled, puffy-faced, ultra-right fear merchant. These people will never change, even if Rush, et al, suddenly became and preached normalcy. Haters, always, will hate.
