President Stoner probably thought Weld just gave him a ringing endorsement.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Weld says something even more explicit as the election gets closer----
given the intellectual level of the average Libertarian, you now…
Why is he grabbing his liver?
Well said, Mr. Weld. It almost redeems you from agreeing to be on the ballot with "Gary “Baked” Johnson…
Wouldn’t your heart sink if you were teamed with Gary “Baked” Johnson?
I thought he was making sure he still had his wallet.
It’s refreshing to hear someone say they know Hillary and she’s an honest person. No qualifiers.
With twenty five years of scurrilous attacks on her character, it’s easy to forget that. Especially now with the FBI piling on.
“Vouching” must be the equivalent to “voting” in Libertarian speak.
But this very good news. Moody’s Analytics which has never been wrong in predicting presidential races says it’s Clinton.
Johnson’s not going to like this. If he weren’t so stoned, he might punch Weld in the face.
I have so much more respect for these former Republicans. It’s weird.
If this was a normal election I’d commend him for trying to give the voter more than two choices at the ballot box. As it is I am happy that he acts on his realization that this is no normal election.
That was a great interview. He all but said “Vote Hillary, for God’s sake.”
Even better than Moody’s, in terms of actual vote counting, Lawrence O’Donnell interviewed a guy from Targetsmart that interviewed all the early voters in FL (FL provides a list of early voter names each day). So this is not just a poll, but an exit poll of people who voted. It found that 28% of registered Republicans voted Hillary compared to 6% of registered Dems who voted Trump, the latter being normal historically. This is stunning. TargetSmart projected that if 28% of R’s in FL vote this way through Election Day, H will win FL 48-40%.
I am not sure how they could project with such exactitude w/o knowing how many independent and unaffiliated early voters voted and for whom. However, intuitively, if anything close to one-quarter to one-third of R’s nationwide have voted or are going to vote Hillary, I do not see how this does not become a landslide. Maybe these are the hidden R married women H voters coming out.
This was a really good interview. I too have respect for Weld. In fact, if the tradition of presenting the public with a unity speech after the election continues, Weld has far more credibility and better judgement than anyone on the Trump-supporting right.
Love how he compared a Trump rally to “Two Minutes Hate”…
Doubleplusgood
He’ll just hug Weld and say, “I love you, man.”
It will be more like “Bill Weld? Who’s that?”
“Your running mate”
"Oh yeah. But back to my tax plan…
Yeah, 538’s model has her with a 69% chance to win. I’m not sure how that works exactly, but all signs point to a Clinton win with a week to go. However, we’ve also never had the FBI act so reckless in a manner that could negatively impact one candidate.
Also the flip side of that 538 model would mean that we have a 31% chance of electing the most dangerous man to be POTUS in over a hundred years. That’s mind blowing considering just two weeks ago it looked like she’d win in an electoral and general landslide. How short of memories do Americans have that they’ve already forgotten the hundreds of scandals surrounding Trump?
I know it’s political suicide to say so, but I truly think the American people are very stupid.
Before the GOP went full metal confederacy, this guy could have made a pretty decent candidate.
The people are dumber than fuck and the media is mendacious and complicit.
These sound like outrageous statements but they are demonstrably true.
I saw that interview on O’Donnell and I was practically cheering.
