I guess they call it “Reason” because it’s yet another reason to ridicule the morally bankrupt libertarian philosophy.

Nothing wrong with a healthy dose of skepticism as long as it’s not used to shut down efforts to get to the truth of what happened.

White fratboy dudebros questioning the validity of a story about white fratboy dudebros engaging in sexual assault? Who could have foreseen it.

What about a healthy dose of just plain making shit up? Evidently all Robby Soave did was read the RS article and some other skeptic’s rantings, and used that as a basis to take up against it. He added nothing to the story save that same old reliable misanthropic libertarian ethos.

Candy Crowley, based on her reporting on the Steubenville football team rape, agrees with you. These rapists’ young men’s lives hang in the balance. How can we do such a thing to them?

This is a classic example of what is wrong with contemporary journalism – post-journalism: an ever increasing emphasis on the reporter of a story rather than on the individual, individuals or the issues covered.

Right. Because that’s totally not exactly what this “skepticism” is about.

Actually I worry that in this case, “a healthy dose of skepticism” over this girl’s accounting of her rape could do harm. It could discourage other girls from coming forward for fear that people wouldn’t believe them anyway - or worse, would turn the accusation against them, adding insult to (literal) injury.

Honestly, all the skepticism around this issue really pisses me off. THIS is why we have a sexual assault problem in college campuses across our country. If you were accidentally shot, imagine people reacting by asking you, “Well why did you walk in front of that bullet?” and cease to treat it like an actual crime or prosecute the shooter.

I see how you spin the Rapists into Victims. Clever.

Guys, do yourself a favor and don’t read the comments in the Rolling Stone story. Almost as sickening as the Penn State defenders.

One does wonder, however, how many of the people piously intoning about the presumption of innocence in defense of these poor, misunderstood boys spend last week calling Michael Brown a “thug” who deserved to die.

Even if you haven’t been assaulted, if you get the opportunity, beat a fraternity member today!

We’re you one of the guys?

The questions brought up strike me as fair. Policies are already being made by the college based on this article, which is a journalist recounting an anonymous student with no identifiable individuals.

I reject the notion that we need to do away with any form of further inquiry when a charge is brought up, otherwise we’re supporting rape. This mindset led to Duke Lacrosse.

Libertarians, bah humbug

I guess Libertarian’s think all those annoying laws against rape are just a big government intrusion into people’s personal lives, and too much regulation is bad for the economy ya,know.

I very strongly and earnestly suggest you go read the actual article at Rolling Stone in its entirety.
