Discussion: Let's Not Get Carried Away With The Megyn Kelly Lovefest

Discussion for article #239207

The entire “debate” was a farce and it was obvious Fox tried to do what the Republicans can’t do which is to oust DT.

My entire lovefest for Megyn Kelly is strictly looks-based.

Amen.

“Rubio wasn’t so much thrown softballs as he was given softballs set up on a tee with 10 strikes and the defensive team told to leave the field”. EXACTLY. I am relieved to see this in print as I was dumbfounded by all of the over-the-top praise for Rubio’s performance last night.

Megyn Kelly is a FOX corporate tool and nothing more. She carried out the directives of Roger Ailes and the GOP’s Big Money Boys who want to bring down the Trump Chump ASAP before he completely savages the entire GOP field of primary clowns.

Well, when you’re that incompetent, you get lots of credit for not face-planting when getting out of bed in the morning.

Similarly, Walker’s strategy is obviously to sit silently while the circular firing squad blazes all around him. And it’ll probably work because these people are fucking idiotic (candidates and voters).

Megan Kelly was the leader of the GoP clown show that was aired on Faux Nuz last night!

Wasn’t it great when they asked him about abortion?

“Are you aware that 83% of Americans favor abortion if the health of the mother is at stake?”

“I do what I think Americans want.”

No further questions.

They can throw all the softballs they want at Rubio. He’s corrupt, he’s stupid, he’s unprepared, and he’s in fact shockingly extreme. I’d love for him to drain votes away from Bush and Kasich for the rest of the primary season.

What love-fest for Megyn Kelly? I’ve heard more complaints than compliments about the ridiculous softball questions aimed at candidates not named Trump.

Right now there’s some woman examining her eye make up wondering how to make it look the same on herself. Honey, it takes a village.

I don’t know that it does Rubio any favors to be boosting his high chair at this point. Presidential campaigns are brutal and unforgiving affairs (witness all the GIFs of Rubio stealing a sip of water a few years ago). Either he can take it or he can’t. If he can’t, they’re better off finding that out right now.

I watched both debates, which doubles the amount of Fox News I’ve seen in a decade. The thing I was most struck by - and what the punditry seems not to have noticed - is that all the questions were free of context and seemed designed to lock the candidates even more firmly into their right-wing dogma.
Planned Parenthood came up often, yet I remember no mention of the fact that fetal tissue is valuable in the research of Alzheimers and other degenerative diseases that might be of particular interest to Fox’s elderly audience.
It’s posited as a given that the border is not secure and that illegal immigration is a huge problem, when in fact resources there have doubled over the past decade and numbers of illegal immigrants have fallen.
Climate change… Well that never came up in the adult debate and at the kiddie table, it was only to ask about conservative views and without mention of the views of the experts.
I could go on.
This is exactly how Fox is making Americans dumber and it’s absolutely contrary to what journalists are supposed to do. It’s upsetting that nobody’s calling Fox on it.

I was struck by the high gloss latex paint used for make-up by the hosts, does FOX use artists or an auto body shop?

While we liberals/progressives may have liked Kelly’s questioning of Trump, the “conservative” base is up in arms about it. I’ve went to a couple of their sites and the commenters are bashing Kelly and calling Fox News a RINO network. Trump ultimately will come out looking BETTER to the anti-establishment types in the Republican party and Fox just lost a segment of their viewers.

Meageane Kelly: Senator Rubio, if you could be a tree, what sort of tree would you be?

Senator Rubio: A Christmas tree because I so LOVE JESUS, essentially.
