Truth be told, most Republican legislators in Maine would like another Governor. Maine’s last two budgets were passed, with significant Republican support, over LePage’s veto. He’s alienated many of his fellow Republicans with his outrageous remarks and legislative non-starters.
The Trump administration is still determining where the Governor can do the most damage. They concede that they may give him a job merely to humiliate Gov Christie one more time.
As the sworn enemy of “people of color” LePage seems the obvious choice to lead the Civil Rights Division of Attorney General Sessions’ Department of Justice. A match made in Breitbart heaven.
It’s vaguely possible that even a consummate failure like the Trump ShitShow doesn’t want Crazy Guggenheim to be part of it.
