This should be interesting…

Yes, and the Constitution created a court system, which after depositions and discovery and lots of lawyers bills you may not like.

The most important fact to keep in mind here is that this in no way supports the false premise that there is a conservative war on women. In no way.

I accidentally read one of those articles. (I would not have, if I’d known the source.) The basic premise is this–Lena Dunham said this thing happened; we believe some of what she said, but we will ignore other things she said and make up the rest; which proves we are right in our criticism of this left-wing bitch.

It’s sad that we’re reduced to defending an obvious fame whore like Dunham from the usual wingnut nonsense.

how is she a “fame whore?” she is talented, has a tv show and a book, does what ANY person who gets famous does, but somehow that makes her a fame whore? Then they all are. I’m not a fan of hers, but I despise that phrase applied to any creative and successful person.

How about a swift kick to the balls Shapiro

You could reasonably make that a part of the settlement.

With steel toed boots and a spike…

The only real f.w. I can think of is Sarah Palin. And she’s neither creative nor particularly successful, IMHO.

Hmmm. I can’t say that I feel sorry for Dunham if she did write in her memoir that she placed objects in her sister’s genitalia and a few other choice things, which she did write.

Granted, she was a 7-year old child, but she really had no fucking business writing that sort of thing in her memoir. There are something best kept to yourself. It was very, very stupid, and now she’s threatening to use the law to undo things she should not have done in the beginning, namely putting in print what she did to her sister.

It’s now open to interpretation and other may see her actions as sexual abuse of person younger than her.

I doubt if she has a case if she really did write those things in her book since other people did quote from it.

Other people do have the right to offer their interpretation, and after all she did say that she’s not that kind of girl. Meaning, by my interpretation, the kind to keep her mouth shut about certain personal things.

I draw a parallel to Jennifer Lawrence’s photo hack. Granted, it was a felonious criminal that stole her photos, but it begs the question: is it wise to have highly personal photo/data stored in the cloud where security can be compromised? I certainly cannot condone the conservative attacks on Dunham, but publishing highly personal and predictably provocative personal family history like that is just bound to stir up a shit-storm with reactionary conservatives.

So, someone is claiming abuse after having sex with Dunham? Sounds good to me.

In other news:

The 70’s rock band Chicago is suing every listener who ever interpreted their song “25 or Six-to-Four” as to be some sort of veiled drug reference.

Al Qeada filed suit against anyone who believes that they are a terrorist organization.

And finally, the ancestors of those who wrote America’s Constitution are suing everyone who ever interpreted the phrase “a well-regulated militia” into meaning anyone at any time could collect all of the firearms that they wanted with no regulations whatsoever.

I’m suing you for making too much sense.

WTF are you talking about. She is not a fame whore. She’s famous because she is a brilliant writer and has a successful show on HBO. I hope she sues and wins.

She is free to write about whatever she wants. I am really surprised by how she is being treated for writing about what a lot of kids do when they are young - explore. It is normal curiosity. She didn’t have sex with her sister. She is provocative

Not-so-brightbart rentboy, benji can’t comprehend “actual malice.”
Have a fun time at your deposition.

I agree that Dunham is free to publish whatever she wants, and I deplore the reaction from conservatives. I’m not making a judgement on the moral or legal considerations of her actions that she’s recounted, only that it’s not exactly a surprise that she’s being attacked by conservatives, based upon the subject matter. It’s predictable, and I hope that Ms. Dunham saw this coming and prepared her lawsuits in advance.

Sue, Ms. Dunham. These people have gotten used to making absolutely scurrilous claims about people with no consequences at all—the phrase “death panels” comes to mind—and I’d love to see them for once get hauled into court and lose a libel suit.
