"Renowned basketball coach Bob Knight on Wednesday threw his support behind Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, "
Well, I suppose its better than throwing his chair at them. Maybe.
Trump is also touting Mike Tyson’s endorsement in Indiana, the state where Mike Tyson was convicted of rape.
The former Indiana Hoosiers coach, who was known for his brash and sometimes controversial manner, appeared with Trump at a rally in Indianapolis, hailing Trump as “the most prepared man in history to step in as president of the United States.”
“There has never been a presidential candidate prepared to the length that this man is,” said Knight, who urged attendees to cast votes for Trump.
I always thought Bobby Knight was a great basketball coach, but also acknowledged he is batshit crazy.
But until now, I did not realize the depths of that craziness.
So. Has the device been created yet to measure which of these two loses stature due to associating with the other? Seems like an incredibly fine distinction to measure.
Violent anger management issue. Exactly the kind of person one would expect to endorse Trump
So that makes Tyson a local endorsement, no?
These two are top of the group of totally disliked public figures. Perhaps Trump will follow Cruz’s lead and appoint Bobby his VP in waiting.
Clint Eastwood: What happened to the chair that I was talking to?
Reminds me of Clint Eastwood and his empty chair on stage. I lost respect for Clint then, and Bobby Knight now. I was a student at IU in 1966-70 when Knight was at the top of his game there (and in grad school there from 1971-74). I watched a lot of games with Steve Alford the captain of the team while in grad school (later Alford was an excellent coach at UNM in Albuquerque, and now hired as a coach elsewhere - not sure, Harvard?). But, after he threw that chair when pissed off in a game, his reputation began to dive even though we all laughed about it. My son was in 2 of Bobby Knight’s basketball summer camps in the early 1980s - very enjoyable for all of us. Later, Knight took a coaching job at Texas Tech, a big step down it seemed to me. My son was in grad school at Texas Tech then by coincidence, and thought it was great (now, my son considers Texas to be the backbone of America, but that’s another story). But, I’m not surprised Knight endorsed Trump - a solid Hoosier miscreant, like so many Hoosiers.
Go figure. A chair-tossing, tantrum-throwing, choke artist who punched down on college kids and referees is endorsing his temperamental brother.
And here’s me thinking Trump’s main support came from old, angry white guys. Shows what I know.
Of course, he did… “I love the attitude.” blathers the donnie.
So how we know that a chair & fit thrower Is supporting another bully for President. BFD
Bobby would refuse to wear the dress.
“the most prepared man in history to step in as president of the United States.”
Cats this time!
this is what calculus was invented for. the curve of diminishing returns.
Just wanted to share with you the coach who ended Knight’s perfect stretch in the opening game of the 75-76 season when IU opened at Toledo in the inauguration of the Rockets new field house, Centennial Hall …Bobby Nichols’ Rockets by a good margin. IU was ambushed. The Rockets had a team that made it into the Sweet 16 that year. Knight was pissed and payed back Toledo the next year when the Rockets visited Bloomington to complete the home and home series. The were whipped and Knight left his starters in to run up the score. Game ended and Nichols just left the court not shaking handsand never spoke to him the rest of his magnificent career at the MAC school. "Mr. Nichols, who won five MAC titles in 22 years as head coach of his alma mater, is survived by his wife, Barbara, their six children, and a lineage of players he molded into successful athletes and luminaries in their communities. Five of his players are medical doctors, and several others are coaches.
