“So you can be a millionaire and not have employer-based health care and you’re going to get a check from the federal government – I’ve got a problem with that.”

Common ground?

Sure…if his follow up thought wasn’t almost certainly “because nobody should be getting any subsidies.”

And that picture…do any of these fuckers NOT look like they suffer from smartest-guy-in-the-room syndrome? How far up his nose do you think I could get his glasses?

It puts its glasses up its nose or it gets the hose again…

I guess the words ‘replacement’ and ‘new’ mean the same thing to these low rent no class bottom feeders. Lecture us AGAIN about ‘Christian values, ethics and morals’ you reprehensible dweeb.

“So the headline is that the GOP is reducing subsidies to needy individuals when in fact, the growth of the taxpayer-subsidized reimbursements will actually increase. The total dollars that we spend on subsidies will be far greater,” Meadows told CNN. “So you can be a millionaire and not have employer-based health care and you’re going to get a check from the federal government – I’ve got a problem with that.”

He’s not wrong about this part but he doesn’t seem to realize that this a feature, not a bug. Getting more money to the richest people while screwing the poorer people out of more of what little they have is the GOP way.

At this point, just touching the ACA invokes the Pottery Barn Rule. Dems need to stay as far away as possible from any such discussions in congress while taking the argument to the streets.

Funny how they never talk about “compassionate conservatism,” it’s almost as if it was never real.

Oh Boy you’re not kidding. Any compromise the Dems make on this will be hung around their necks. Just consider how NAFTA is presently Bill Clinton’s doing and no one else. The Dems would be crazy to allow themselves to be skewered this way.

I am beginning to wonder if these clowns can produce a plan that will get through the Senate.

“Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC), who heads the House Freedom Caucus, told CNN Monday he would vote against a bill that looked like the leaked draft, and that other conservatives had similar concerns.”

It just doesn’t kill quite enough sick children to win their support.

Throw in a few million more, and maybe they can deal…

He needs to be put in charge of the next replacement bill.

As Bannon would say, Mark Meadows sees an oppurtunity to deconstruct. I’m hoping he suceeds.
Here’s Bannon’s deconstruction plan in one picture:

i wonder where he hides his hands when he goes out in the sunlight! They’re whiter than a body that’s been floating in ice cold water, for a week!
This guy is a Class A-1 asshole, here’s his bio!

He has a problem with Millionaires getting a refundable tax credit? Lying, evil, POS.

I was just reading about this on another site: Freedom Caucus members have endorsed a replacement bill by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) that would come with a tax deduction of up to $5,000 instead of a refundable tax credit.

Who has more tax deductions? Millionaires or lower to middle income people?

Oh this going to be fun to watch.
Just a shame it’s dealing with reality.
wealthiest country on earth with the worst health care because of “THAT” thought process.

The Republicans set this trap and walked right into it. They are in a situation where no matter what happens they are going to incite an important constituency – do nothing and they incite their base, take away large amounts of subsidies and patient rights and incite constituent beneficiaries of the status quo.

In other words, this is a stupid fight to pick.

Yet they made it their top priority while they have unified control of government. By the time they get past ACA, if they ever do, then they will shortly have to pivot to midterm survival mode where nothing controversial can get done.

Has the Freedom Caucus actually done anything, been successful at any endeavor other than obstruction? Because I can’t name a single piece of positive legislation that they’ve authored, let alone passed.

This is DOA in the Senate. So expect ACA replacement to take a bit longer than anticipated…
