If your cherry-picked religious beliefs are that strong, quit. Otherwise, do your job.

Kentucky Oath of Office:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm, as the case may be) that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of this Commonwealth, and be faithful and true to the Commonwealth of Kentucky so long as I continue a citizen thereof, and that I will faithfully execute, to the best of my ability, the office of … according to law.

Federal Constitution takes precedence. No opt-out for religious beliefs.

Bless her heart. Poor thing still hasn’t recovered from that trip to San Francisco during Pride Week 1975

So that’s what stupid looks like.

I hope the suit includes everyone up the local-government chain of command who didn’t a) speak politely but firmly with the clerk and b) fire her as soon as she refused point blank to do her job.

I’m sure Hobby Lobby or Chic-Fil-A would give her a job.

The press is really falling down here. How many reporters asked her how many licenses she granted to adulterers?

Do your damned job or get the hell out!

And as for your personal religious views…

and keep them to yourself and out of your taxpayer funded job.

Just did a quick scan of the Bill of Rights. Didn’t see the term “county clerk” in there at all.

They want to be martyrs so that they can then go to Heaven and supposedly stand next to God…

Unfortunately, the only real thing they get to find out is if they’re assigned to ring 4, 6, or 8 of Hell.

Fire or jail that fundie bigot and let her start her GoFundMe page. This kind of religious bigotry cannot be tolerated in the public arena. The potential for discrimination against any number of people is possible and it must be ended before it gets worse.
And the Rightie Con and Baggers meme: “You’re persecuting me because of my religious beliefs if you won’t allow me to discriminate against you.” is just their usual Opposite Day stonewalling and must be dealt with as such.

These religious nutjobs should follow the example set by the Mennonites: Seclude yourself from secular society.

Why would this case be brought against the individual? Wouldn’t it be against the county or state? Or because she’s (probably) an elected official, she somehow acts alone in her capacity?
