Discussion: Lawmaker Drinks Raw Milk, Gets Sick, But Insists WV Capitol Is 'A Big Germ'

Discussion for article #247138

Cadle is a big fan of Bluetooth earpieces for his phone. His hands are needed to pick his nose and scratch his balls.

What were the symptoms? If it was vomiting and diarrhea…it was likely the milk. If they were respiratory…the building. The symptoms are not mentioned…which speaks loudly.

the Capitol building “is a big germ.”

Can’t say I disagree.

See…this is why guns shouldn’t be illegal…because even raw milk can kill.

Except raw milk is illegal to distribute in West Virginia. Oops, never mind.

No comment necessary!

We don’t need no damn gummint telling us what to do or what milk we can’t drink. And those who died of salmonella caught it from the State, not from the uninspected chicken, which is their right to eat. Yah, its just a coincidence that a chicken raised by one of my big conservative donors was eaten by all of the decedents the night before their deaths. Thank God we replaced science in our schools with creationism. Ain’t nothin about pasteurization in the Bible. God is Great.

I’m all for eating (and drinking) more unprocessed foods, but come on. There’s a reason dairy cows had to be trucked to their destinations to be milked in the days before pasteurization, and why laws were put into place to ensure pasteurization became the norm once they figured out why it was necessary. It’s because lots of people used to DIE from drinking raw milk.

The legislation Cadle was celebrating doesn’t even legalize the sale of raw milk, according to the Gazette-Mail. Instead, it would allow “herd-sharing” agreements so people could buy a share in a cow in order to use the animal’s raw milk, as long as they signed an agreement acknowledging the health risks.

Does this mean that the free market will take care of everything?

Ahh wholesome milk!
(Expect when drank by germy lawmakers.)

Article says “stomach” problems. But it wasn’t the milk! Maybe the Scotch chaser?

Ditto. Symptoms, please. A “stomach bug” shortly after drinking raw milk leads me to believe it was likely the milk. If a person has a compromised immune system, such as being HIV-positive or cancer or having an organ transplant, etc., I highly recommend not taking this risk – as it can be deadly.

When one is both sufficiently stupid and self-assured, it’s possible to say and believe anything about what is and is not causation. We all know what these fellers likely believe with unwavering certainty about climate change.

Raw milk is nothing to fool around with. It’s a dangerous substance, and many people die from it. Small children with poorly defined immune systems can have permanent damage. There is a cult around raw milk, and it needs to be squished. One of the few folks from high school days that I keep up with is a raw milk cultist. Kind of sad, but we all have our imperfections.

Yeah… sure it is the building… or… people that make bad decisions tend to make a lot of them. The odds say the latter.

OK. Lets make raw milk legal, and carry a bottle of it instead of a gun.
