Discussion: Lauren Bacall, Dead at 89

Discussion for article #226316

First Robin Williams, now this.

Stood up with Bogie against the studio system and that miserable douchebag Joe McCarthy. The smartest, toughest, classiest Hollywood dame there ever was.

All respect to “Big Sleep,” Josh, but if you watch “To Have and Have Not” you can watch Bogie and Bacall falling in love with each other. That’s what I’ll be screening tonight.

If I can bear it.

She always was a classy dame, in the finest sense of the words.

Watch 'em both. For the chemistry in To Have and Have Not; and the artistry in The Big Sleep. The cafe scene alone…

R.I.P. Ms. Bacall. You lived well.

Yep. That’s my favorite Bogie-Becall movie. I fell in love with her too watching that one. Truely a a great one at her craft and their story was definitely one of the great Hollywood love stories.

She even appeared on “er” once. Of course, she stold the show. No. 1 show on tv and she showed them what class and style was. You didn’t even notice that she was 80 years old. Brilliant.

She reportedly said during a Larry King interview that being a liberal is the best thing a person can be.

Class with a hint of danger, talent with style, and unabashed intelligence…and courage to join an attempt to confront McCarthy. Even more courage more recently to publicly defend liberals against ubiquitous defamation.

But what I really want to know is how those gals made themselves into icons of sophistication and character at the age of 19! No little girl voices and costumes for them.

Hell no. Lauren Becall had one of THE sexiest sultry voices ever. “Just put your lips together and blow”
