Discussion: Last Missouri Abortion Clinic Could Shutter As State Withholds Permit Renewal

Make them pay. Boycott anything associated with Missouri.

The RAPE Act, I guess it must have been called.

Zero abortions . Success as far as they’re concerned
Hard to know if there’s anything to impact .
Most of the state’s counties have a population density between 1 and 100 people per square mile, although the large urban areas have a population density that reaches over 5,000 people per square mile.
In terms of preferred religions through the state’s population, we can see 77% have an affiliation with a Christian based faith, 3% are involved in non-Christian based faiths, and 20% are unaffiliated with any faith in particular.

Time to send a donation to Planned Parenthood in Missouri. I am sad that my donations may be going to legal fees instead of patient care.

Can it sue now or does it have to wait until it loses its licence?

What the hell is that? Missourian Science writ large.

Sounds more like TPM’s usual editing. I think it’s supposed to say “require a pelvic exam for women having an abortion via pill”.

The reason is that I want abortion to be legal is that in countries where it’s illegal, they still happen with disastrous consequences for women. Things might have changed, but in a latin american country I lived in the 90s abortion was like the sixth cause of abortion among young women.

I am aghast:

“When I say an unnecessary pelvic exam what I mean is that the state is forcing me to put my fingers in somebody’s vagina when it is totally medically irrelevant,” Dr. Colleen McNicholas, a Planned Parenthood doctor in Missouri, told CBS. “That is really bordering on harassment…

It’s not just bordering on harassment, it is bordering on legislative assault. Or forget “bordering” - it rather dives right into the harassment and assault lanes.

…and another state I won’t go to. Honest to CHRIST. You would ‘think’ with your teeny tiny brains that a woman getting MEDICAL CARE and birth control advice would be something you’d WANT to prevent abortions but no…these fkers show their true colors by banning WOMAN from making any kind of health related choice. RISE UP LADIES!

Hmmm. How about a condom exam in which a male pharmacist has to inspect all those buying a pack? BTW, “small” doesn’t exist in condom land - sizing starts at “medium.” So pathetic.

After having a discussion about the geology of Stone County with a high school science teacher in Missouri who swore that the sheer rock cliffs along the James River were only 5,000 years old, one always has to wonder.

I thought it started at “trump’s hands” and went up from there…

Lake Woebegon effect?

Or if not an exam, a catalogue all male DNA, so that at every birth the father can be identified and have his pay garnished from day 1 to help cover costs of the prenatal and birth medical bills, and half the costs from then on until the child is 18. No exceptions.

Ya, I don’t really mean that - but it is hard to come up with analogous invasive legislation as this and other recent state laws regulating abortion (ideally, per those states, regulating out of existence.)

… because it never gets old.

“They tell you that there’s a war on women. There is no war on women. There may be a war on what’s inside of women, but there is no war on women in this country.”

True, but look at what the PP doctor says:

“When I say an unnecessary pelvic exam what I mean is that the state is forcing me to put my fingers in somebody’s vagina when it is totally medically irrelevant,” Dr. Colleen McNicholas, a Planned Parenthood doctor in Missouri, told CBS.

That’s not an exam by pill. It’s pretty clearly talking about a physical exam for someone who doesn’t need it.

Again, this is Missouri (pronounced Misery) we’re talking about, so you never know. And when you consider that all Guardians Of Predators instantly become experts in gynecology and obstetrics upon election, you really never know.
