Was it an actual transcript, or a script that was not followed?
I remember once Trump claimed to have seen coverage of a thing, and cited a reporter having covered that thing, and the reporter said his coverage never said that thing, and then Trump said the reporter was changing his story. Trump claimed the reporter was saying he couldn’t remember. And then Trump mocked his disability. So let’s not talk quite so much about taking things out of context. Because Trump does that all. the. time. When he’s not flat making it up.

Yep. And lost to some extent in the callousness of the physical mockery was the way Trump took a clarification of what the story actually said, meant to counter Trump’s own misrepresentation, and presented it as a failure to remember. Just cheap, two-bit, grade-school-level nonsensical sophistry.

I think it’s also disgusting that Trump waited so long to make the calls, and had to rush to make them that day so that the call was made while the widow was in the car driving to the airport to pick her husband’s body. Why not schedule the call for a time when the family was together in a less emotionally volatile time? He had 14 days or so for his staff to find an appropriate time for the call yet it had to be rushed, taken over a cell speaker phone, and even the widow admits she can barely remember what was said.
Well, yes, but I think it’s pretty clear he loves to abuse minorities and women even more than he enjoys abusing people in general.
Now, whether his enhanced enjoyment of abusing minority women is simply an additive effect of being in both categories, or whether there’s a kind of synergy where he enjoys this kind of abuse more than the sum of its parts, I don’t know.

What context do you use ( Ms. Trump didn’t provide any ) that makes “I guess he knew what he was signing up for” OK under the circumstances in which it was said? What words do you surround that callous statement with that makes it OK?
This broohahha didn’t start with Rep. Wilson or Ms. Johnson. It started when Trump lied about Bush and Obama in order to aggrandize himself. That brought “phone calls” into the picture or “politics” as Trump Jr calls it and it cast light on the fact Trump had not called the families of the 4 men recently killed. That’s how it became a story. All Trump’s doing.
The phone was put on speaker by a Master Sgt. serving as an escort for Sgt. Johnson’s widow and the other people in the car. He was notified that Trump’s call had been received and he put it on speaker for all to hear. Apparently the Trump team was dumb enough to let him ad lib his comments and here we are.
Yeah, transcript? Really? Who transcribed the call? Was it transcribed live, or from a recording? Or from a remembered accounting? I really want to drop this whole subject, but with that fucking lunatic John Kelly’s grotesque performance yesterday, we now have to drag this sorry episode through the mud some more.
