Witness intimidation? Making baseless claims?

Yeah, that’s Donnie and Rudy.

And it used to be your client as well, Lanny.

Mueller to Davis: “Thanks, Lanny. I’ll put that on the list.”

ETA: “As we stated previously with our colleague, Chairman Jerry Nadler of the Judiciary Committee, efforts to intimidate witnesses, scare their family members, or prevent them from testifying before Congress are textbook mob tactics that we condemn in the strongest terms." (emphasis mine)

Rudy can practice the explanation he’s planning to use with St. Peter.

Both Trump and Giuliani have baselessly implied that Cohen’s father-in-law is involved in criminal financial activities.

This is the mob striking back at Rudy and Trump. Davis came up with an idea that he has been slow cooking in the crockpot for a while, that Cohen might not testify for fear for his safety and that of his family. They put it out there a while ago, knowing Trump/Rudy would take the bait as more news, like Buzzfeed’s report, came out. Then, when Rudy went after the mob by name, Davis played his card to say that Cohen isn’t coming, making a full circle around the witness tampering argument. They wanted to trap Rudy because he has no constitutional protections and it’s a way to get Rudy under oath to say that he was directed by Individual-1, which would mark another impeachable offense that would be prosecutable upon leaving office. The very next day, the SSCI subpoenas Cohen with the HPSCI sure to follow, so they’re going to get the info regardless of Trump’s threat.

I question the “baselessly” here. Those two make baseless claims the whole livelong day, but Cohen’s father-in-law has some very shady connections. It doesn’t make what Trump and Giuliani do any righter, but the thinking is Cohen didn’t fully cooperate with SDNY and is doing three years in order to avoid answering about the family.

Great article, but the SNOOT in me feels obliged to tell you that pronoun should be a possessive: “…about his and his family’s safety…” .

Who doesn’t?

I was going to point out this paragraph because it makes it seem like he’s never going to testify in the house. Yesterday’s article had a quote from the committee chairmen that stated that while his concerns are credible his never testifying is not an option.

The chairmen said that they still intended to require Cohen’s testimony at some point, saying “not appearing before Congress was never an option.”

I’m with you. I shudder each time I see stuff like this as well (“between you and I” gets me as riled as “him and me went to the store”…)

Grrr…

On a charge like this, rudi doesn’t have much room for blowing off the need to appear. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

Whether this is honest or not, it is very smart.

AND, it opens up a new battle-front on the public-opinion war about impeachment.

I salute you Lanny.

I cannot believe I am agreeing with asshole Lanny Davis.

But, like a stopped clock, even an asshole can be right at least twice a day.
