Discussion: Lankford: U.S. Doesn’t Hold Children Accountable For Actions Of Their Parents

Well, it’s nice to hear some Goopers taking a moral stand, at least verbally…

The question is, when push comes to shove, will they put their votes where their mouths are?

Or will they fold as usual when Donnie Two Scoops threatens to “primary” them off the ballot?

It’s interesting how many Republicans are now in favor of DACA / DREAMers now that the black man has left the White House and deportation is a real threat. Oh well, you take your wins where you find them.

Whatever they do they need to make sure they pass something with a veto-proof majority because I don’t put it beneath Trump to veto any fix that allows Dreamers to stay in the US, so work with your fellow Democrats and get it right morans

They “were against it before they were for it!”

Like Flake, Lankford has his finger in the wind on this and knows which side he needs to be on when the issue reaches critical mass. The more this happens, the more we know how fast Trump is sinking.

I await more than talk from the GOP.

I don’t see any R up for reelection in 2018 crossing Trump. Would love to be proved wrong.
like you said, tut-tuts don’t count. I mean votes

Even Paul Ryan was in favor of DACA before Trump announced his plan to end it. Trump just called their bluff on this. He gave them six months to legislate DACA.

Of course, agreeing with the principle of DACA may prove just like Repealing Obamacare. Nice to talk about when it doesn’t matter. Hard to do when you can.

Pressure is on the Republicans to fix DACA, if for no other reason, to please their business masters. In exchange though, they’ll demand their pound of flesh from the Dems which will most likely be border wall funding. Hopefully Dems won’t give in on that.

Just more work for Ryan and McConnell. On top of an already jammed schedule. I hope this prevents them from addressing “tax reform” among other issues.

You’ve got six months to write and pass legislation that would allow those kids to stay in the country. Just do it.

I do. If Flake and Heller hope to be reelected they have no choice but to oppose PP on DACA.

yep–the solution to this problem is right in front of them. Just pass a bill–ball is in your court GOP reps.

As a 95.8 percenter, it’s amazing he got his lips far enough away from Donnie’s hindquarters to make this announcement.

I’d like to agree, but sense they lack the moxie to do more than knuckle under and hope for the best.
I can almost see them pleading on Judgement Day–‘yes I voted along w every evil destructive scheme, but,
and this is crucial, I scored some telling rhetorical points in the process’.

nice to see you posting. It’s not the same when you’re not around

Ok senator the ball is in your court. Just bring the 2013 immigration bill to the floor. The one that received 68 votes in the senate but the Bohener led house refused to take it up.

Lankford: U.S. Doesn’t Hold Children Accountable For Actions Of Their Parents

Except in the case where your father is Donald J. Trump. Then you’re guilty as he is…

Americans don’t, but Republicans have been doing it for decades. And Conservatives have been doing it for millennia.

“It is right for there to be consequences for those who intentionally entered this country illegally,”

GAH, I’m so tired of this continuing misconception. Most people enter this country quite legally, then they overstay their permits or whatever. There is a difference, and it’s because GOPers and their ilk continually blur the distinctions using fear-based language invoking criminality and violence that we remain in this ongoing calamity.

Fixed it for you, hope you don’t mind.
