Discussion: Landrieu's Reference to Race Issues in South Outrages Republicans

Discussion for article #229599

The people who are offended by this weren’t going to vote for her anyway. Sad as it is to commend someone for speaking the truth, good for her.

Sometimes the truth really hurts. It is a fact. Get over it or continue the race hatred that you have been showing. It is the republicans call.

Ohhh so shocking - the Republican are getting the ā€˜vapors’!

  • nothing quite as silly as over-wrought phony hand-wringing and pumped-up false indignation!

State Republican Party Chairman Roger Villere issued a statement late Thursday calling Landrieu’s remarks ā€œinsulting to me and to every other Louisianian.ā€

I’ve been to Louisiana, Rog… she ain’t wrong…

If you are insulted by her comments, you deserve it.

If anybody thinks Louisiana is in fact the friendliest place for African Amaricans, they need to apologize to 48 other states and maybe even Mississippi too.

But the ā€œSupremeā€ Court told us that racism is no longer a problem in America. I think Dianna Ross and her band mates could do a more nuanced, thoughtful and truthful job than most of the current members on the court we now have. Yea, the Robert’s court is supreme alright, supreme right-wing, corporate shills.

I have lived in the South my whole life and this statement is 100% true: ā€œI’ll be very, very honest with you. The South has not always been the friendliest place for African-Americans. It’s been a difficult time for the president to present himself in a very positive light as a leader.ā€

Always get the Democratic elected official to apologize is the motto of the Republican Party no matter how truthful the statement is.

Poll after poll has shown that the ACAPPA is more popular than when the law is stated as ā€œObamacareā€.

You think that race has nothing to do with it?

And Germany hasn’t always been a great place for Jews…

Murder and enslavement of a whole race of people can have a lasting negative impact on your reputation.

When I enslaved you, it was out the friendliest motives possible!

I love this phrase

ā€œā€¦the _____ they advance are wrong for [Louisiana] and wrong for America.ā€

It’s just so handy. When you have nothing intelligent to say, just whip this one out, fill in the blanks, and voila!

Are these easily outraged morons claiming that the South has been ā€œthe friendliest or easiest place for African Americans to advanceā€?

Another marker on the Republican road to changing history.
