Discussion for article #243349
Iām still amazed that the Pubs always seem to put the dumbest members at the head of these committees. I get that some of the most ardent anti-EPA committee heads and members on the Right are also some of the slowest thinkers on the planet. Yet, Iām glad since if they put some of the more intellectual Republicans (yes, itās a oxymoron butā¦) in charge, things could be worse for the EPA, its leaders and legions of dedicated scientists.
Heāll budge, you guys.
All it takes is guts.
Smith: āJust send along the ones where you confess to making stuff up.ā
Haā¦Ha ā You blinked ! ! - - -
How about the Repubs turn over internal communications regarding the Benghazi hearings, the Planned Parenthood hearings or any number of other politically motivated crap theyāve pulled in the past few yearsā¦then they can make these demands.
As they say in Texas āDumb Olā Lamar, Bless his heart!ā
Obituary to read: āOften referred to as ānot the sharpest tool in the shed,ā Smith was a reliable tool nonetheless.ā But heās not even bright enough to know heās not very bright. Texasā¦
Lowered to the anal probable region for the Lamarā¦
bringing it down to his level.
Heās ALREADY doing that - or worse.
Whatās clearly happened here is attorneys for each of the House Committee and NOAA got together and found they couldnāt patch over their clientsā differences, NOAA itself or thru attorneys told Smithās office or the Houseās on-staf attorneys to go pound salt, and the latter finally made a LITTLE headway with Smith to get him to back off on his demands closer to what a court might actually order.
But heās STILL not there. And in my experience, once one government-connected bureaucracy backs another one down, the jungle hooting just increases for a while, often long enough to where the whole thing blows over.
Itās like Lamar Smith just refused to listen to House legal counsel on his committeeās ārightsā, what chances it had in finding a judge or panel that agreed with them (basically, nil), and even if they did get to judge how long it would take to get to there, then thru the court system, including appeals, then back to the House for āactionā [āAction!ā being a fictional plastic toy that bought and paid for storm troopers like Lamar Smith play with when they have their little friends over for Cheezy Bits and Tang.), on the CHANCE that tfolks at NOAA were born yesterday, have never heard of attorneys, and are ACTUALLY quiivering in their boots rather than ready to hunt down and eviscerate Lamar Smith.
Smith has already lost this battle. This is just a part of a P.R. campaign to see if they can retrieve some superficial dignity for him and the GOP on this.
