Gonna have to call Hastert on an (Edwin) Edwards rule violation. Paragraph 1, Subsection A: Live Boys.

It’s truly depressing how predictable that was.

“Denny’s actions when he was a young man in Yorkville are inexcusable, but that doesn’t mean unforgivable,” Huckabee wrote in a Facebook post…

Does TPM or anyone know Hastert’s record on gay issues? Did he sign on with any of the usual GOP gay-bashing crap?

I knew it!

Least surprising shocking news ever.

Occam’s Razor told us this was coming.

If I had a guy like this over a barrel, I sure as shit would have helped his devise a better plan for me to collect ALL of the $3.5 million bucks! Why didn’t Hastert just buy a big expensive house, and deed it to the guy over time, or when he died?

That way Hastert’s estate would have paid the taxes, and the guy would own the house, and sell it when he wanted to cash out. I have been obsessed with this story.

He’s just a fiscal and sexual conservative. Low taxes and low spending as well as keeping sex within the confines of his own sex.

“Jerry Sandusky 2016” is seeming like it might have some legs after all.

How much do you want to bet TLC was just getting ready to sign off on a pilot reality program called “Denny Hastert’s World”?

Back to the drawing board, TLC.

" . . . $3.5 million in hush money to cover up sexual misconduct with an underage male victim of sexual predation."

(TPM copy edited for enhanced accuracy, due to phrase “sexual misconduct” not applicable to another consenting adult).

As an out gay man, I am totally comfortable with my sexuality – and have been pretty much all my life. There was a short time in my youth when I questioned whether it might really be a phase, but some forty years later it’s obviously not a phase.

That said, there is a part of me that really feels sympathy for people like the Denny Hasterts and the Larry Craigs of the world. The major religions of the world are to blame for the majority of this. There is so much hatred and misunderstanding about “the other” that when one discovers they are “the other” it just digs at their souls, their core – and leads to even more hatred, but it’s hatred of self. That is some real powerful stuff.

I don’t know what the alleged abuse was here, and I don’t condone sexual abuse. I hope the man was able to learn to understand that it wasn’t his fault and that he’s gotten the appropriate help. It all makes me wonder what the hell the abuse was since Hastert felt it was worth $3.5M to keep the guy quiet. Damn.

All that said, whoever has the popcorn please pass it my way. Thanks.

Remember during Monicagate when the GOP was having trouble finding a Speaker without a sex scandal, and after a couple tries they settled on Hastert? Fun times.
