Discussion: LA Dodgers Player Refused Team’s Trump Hotel Reservation

“I wasn’t doing it for publicity, I wasn’t doing it for people to look at me or talk about me,” he told the Times on Monday. “That’s not who I am. I just have my own values and morals that I want to live by.”

Bless you Adrian Gonzales! May all of your at bats end with home runs.

Meanwhile in a venue far far away…

“You can draw your own conclusions. They’re probably right,” he said.

Man, I love that. Let the action talk.

I would rather stay at a Motel 6 than give any money to the lying, hypocritical child named “Donald Trump.” Why anyone thinks his name is worthwhile confuses and amazes me. Good for Mr. Gonzalez, vote with your wallet.

Too bad, Pence, Ryan, McConnell, etc all can’t say the same.

My wife did the same thing this past year when a medical conference she was attending in Chicago was held at Trump Tower. I was very proud of her.

40% of Dodgers fans are Latino, as well as other players besides Gonzales, and their home market is one of the largest Latino markets in the country. It’s incredible that the organization would would be so insensitive that they put the team in a Trump hotel in the first place.

For lots of people in LA (and probably elsewhere), this puts the Dodgers in a bad light.

A quiet but powerful personal protest by Mr. Gonzales. Meanwhile, we can continue to put pressure on businesses and sports teams to avoid any entity that can put money in HO’s pocket.

The meltdown will continue long after the LOSER is left to lick his wounds next month. Not a chance I’d ever stay, eat, make a purchase at a HO property, and I suspect there are millions more like me both here at home and around the world.

But with that said I’m afraid, very afraid of what Pence’s and Ryan’s values are. And don’t get me started on what the McTrurtle has going on under that shell. (shudders)

I think you can safely bet that major league teams won’t be making this mistake again.

I don’t think they will make the mistake again.

Hmm… I think it would depend on the political leanings of the owners. But it is safe to say that Cuban’s Dallas Mavericks won’t be booking rooms at a HO property!

A lot of people feel this way as per the NYT.

I don’t think Trump or his kids have any idea yet about the self-inflicted damage they’ve wrought.

They may very well have to go back to Drumf to salvage their businesses.

Though I would wonder about the Ricketts family who own the Cubs or the Steinbrenner family who has some relationship with Trump.

When Boston traded Gonzales to the Dodgers, there were reports that the Red Sox were disappointed that he wasn’t as much of a leader in the clubhouse as they hoped he would be. Clearly, he leads in other ways.

Would-be and former customers are boycotting his hotels, restaurants, and golf courses nationwide.

Yet another facet of the Trump Effect.
