I know, blows your mind, doesnât it? He was married to a black woman who is actually close friends with and grew up with one of my good friends. Apparently, one year at Thunder Over Louisville (our big fireworks Derby kickoff event), he and his wife were horribly harassed by black men who didnât approve of their interracial relationship. The events of that day sunk in and sort of festered and it just happened to be right about the onset of his schizophrenia. His marriage broke up when his wife could no longer deal with his mental health issues, but he continued to have a very close relationship with his son. Enter Fox News. He became increasingly radicalized by right wing media and it began to manifest itself in racial hate. They played into all of his fears and rage until he finally took action. We are just so very lucky his timing was bad and that he couldnât figure out how to get in the church, or a whole lot of people would be dead.
You remember the ballot initiative a few years ago which asked did we want to end capital punishment or speed up executions. You know which won.
