Six Republicans voted with Democrats to approve the veto override. The Republican-controlled state Senate will take up the veto override next.

Fixed that for you, AP. Legislature does not “approve vetoes”.

Ever since the Kentucky General Assembly was forced to start acting like a real legislature back in the 70’s when a governor was elected who didn’t know it was his job to tell it what to do, the one constant, regardless of party control, has been a tendency to eagerly step up and drop a big FU whenever the governor decides to get into a dick measuring contest with it. It’s the damnedest thing.

You’ve just taught them one of the most valuable lessons they’ll ever learn.

It appears the Kentucky House was sending a message. To wit, “Blow me, Bevin.”

Yeah I was pretty confused about who had voted for what. WKYT says the veto override passed 57-40. Of which six were apparently republicans.

But, but, but, I don’t understand! How are these three states, consistently run by Republicans, not fiscal paradises by now? There must be some mistake. Probably the liberal media.

To be fair, KY hasn’t consistently been run by Republicans. Republican control is really only a recent change.
