Discussion: KY Guv To Veto 'Sugary' Budget That GOP Passed In Light Of Teacher Protests

I understand they need the money but
The plan would impose a 6 percent sales tax on a variety of services like auto and home repairs while cutting the income tax rate for some individuals and businesses.
I guess that’s the Republican way let the little people pay for it

Feel the force … Flow Through You ! …

and then taste the bitter cereal when the teachers and your own
party’s lawmakers … shove some sugar up your ass —

I hope they call Bevin’s bluff and continue to strike until the funding increases are law. Not one second before.

Frankly this is the worst thing he could have done for his own party.

Using the earlier metaphor the Emperor has already revealed himself to be a Sith; along with his skirt-chasing colleagues in the House and Senate.

Regardless of this move the Rebellion will strike at the Empire this November. Teachers and others now realize the vehicle which brings these wretches to heel are organizing and strikes.

ā€œI did not take this job to make people politically happy,ā€ Bevin said.

Of course he didn’t. He could care less about those he governs. He took the job to make those who govern him, the Koch Bros. and their ilk, happy.

First Kynect, now the schools. Wonder if KY voters will get up and vote for their economic interests or just follow like Fox News/talk radio sheep?

"Last week, Republican leaders indicated they had the votes necessary to override a veto. "

Translation: Bevin knows he’s 100% safe to engage the pandering thrusters to ludicrous speed.

2/3 vote in the House? I doubt it very much.

It’s so gratifying to watch these guys step on their dicks.

Surprising he would veto it because:

GOP bill cuts taxes for the rich, raises taxes for 95 percent of Kentuckians

Is this not why they exist?

I have the feeling they will choose the latter option, and you have to break eggs to make an omelet and they are willing to be martirs in the cause of conservatism, they will get their reward in heaven, meanwhile they will be satisfied by watching libruls and ā€œcity dwellersā€ squirm in pain.

Gee, and I always thought that making the people happy was what politics was all about – serving the will of the people. I guess Bevin missed that lesson in his civics class.

ā€˜It would be irresponsible for teachers not to teach’ even if they have to do it at starvation wages. What an ass.

Teachers don’t need to strike. They just need to work their contracted hours and only their hours. No more weekend planning and grading. No more meeting parents in the evening. Get to work at 0700 and leave at 1600. No more purchasing school supplies out of their own pockets. Just stop letting these politicians take advantage of them.

Well, he should know from ā€œirresponsibleā€ā€¦

Instead of buying the sugary cereal, you’ll just cut a check to the supermarket chain’s CEO, and let your kid go without breakfast, instead.

I’m really confused. I’m getting old and behind with the way the country is changing, but I always thought that the government could not tax labor. Am I wrong, has this gone the way of ā€œone real person, one voteā€? One would think the Republicans would go the other way on this.

If this had been a deficit increasing tax cut, he’d be so busy stuffing his cart with Lucky Charms that he’d forget to buy milk.
