What does that guy know?

I want to know what secrets the governor is paying the staffer to keep quiet  about! I see this as a possible “hush money”.

“The 134 percent raise was awarded during at a time when the state budget offered no raises for state government workers or teachers.”

“Release the Plucky!”

This doesn’t look suspicious at all.

IT people make a lot of money. Some years ago someone working at a bank had to be made a VP to justify the salary because the normal titles could not keep up with the salaries outside of that particular walled enclave. $160K for that position is a joke, even in Kentucky.

Dear God! The stupid hurts too much! Please make it stop! :weary:

How “swampy” of Bevin.

You pony up for such a CV, or you lose them. $160,000 is chickenshit compared to what this guy can get on the open market.

The 134 percent raise…

I was regularly given raises equal to this while an Army officer. And a new Lamborghini every year too!

I’m fairly certain this is all some random Democrat’s fault for not allowing the Governor to pay his friends exactly what he wants to.

LLOL Honestly, I got nothing. I mean, $375,000 in Frankfort, KY is probably like making over a million in a big city. It’s an astounding amount of money in KY especially for a state government employee.

This may be true. Think of all the employees at our various intelligence agencies. The get paid relative “chickenshit” too. Why do they do that?

I’m sure this was just another facet of Bevin’s altruistic attempt to increase voter turnout in November.

Because the electorate thinks anything more than $100k is too much to pay anyone to do anything. The same mindset is at play when a few yokels sit around the bar and bitch about LeBron James making $30 million a year. Tell you what BillyBob, you run around the court bouncing the ball with your buddies. Get back to me when 30 million people tune in and 3 different networks pony up billions to broadcast it.
The private sector pays up or people take their services elsewhere. Government is a different game. Tax dollars pay salaries, and the knuckleheads at the bar no more understand the dynamics of the worth of an intelligence analyst than they do an NBA player. But enough of them can scream bloody murder about it to depress wages.
People wonder why government runs poorly. Part of it is government can’t pay for the best talent for the task at hand.

They run their state like their own fiefdom.

In a state starved for basic services, paying a tech director, regardless of his pedigree, speaks volumes about how badly the state is governed. In fact, given the nature of Kentucky’s economy, they don’t even need someone that talented.

That said, he did his job at what he agreed to be paid and got a raise covered by doing his job. But nobody else did. Agreed that folks should be paid what they’re worth. But why just this guy? How about anybody who saves $? And why didn’t the gov explain it? Or have the legislature put it in the budget? Doesn’t pass the smell test.
