Even as they advanced around the dam in northern Iraq, the commander
said fighting forces were so poorly armed that he did not believe they
could hold onto captured territory without a fast infusion of weapons —
or continued U.S. airstrikes.
“We don’t have the right weapons,” he said.
Damn straight, they’ve all been given to small police departments throughout the good ole U.S.A to protect our citizens [aka “you fucking animals!”†] from themselves.
†As in “Bring it! Bring it you fucking animals"; actual screaming at crowd by Ferguson, MO police.

One thing that’s scary about this dam is …if it is breached the city of Mosul would be destroyed by floods as would large parts of Baghdad down stream. That dam provides a huge portion of the electricity used in Mosul and Baghdad.
